Today I noticed some new AI generated tips summaries called Know before you go on place pages around the globe.
This new feature was presented to the participants at Connect Live in Dublin. But I had no idea it was so close to being released. From when we hear about an upcoming new feature until it rolls out can take years. In this case it took only 2 months! And this roll out happened over night in one go. Not a step by step roll-out as is usually the case.
The Know before you go-tips are based on what we Local Guides write in our reviews. They are short tips on a bullet list created to help first time visitors. And best of all: You don’t have to read a ton of reviews to find these Gold Nuggets of valuable information.
I believe traveling Maps users will appreciate this new feature. Maps users will find Maps more relevant, helpful, personal, and trustworthy. At least I think so.
Here are some examples to better understand what Know before you go-tips are:
Found in the place page of the Berlin Zoo:
Found at the Hamlet Castle page:
Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya:
Under the city of Marrakesh there is a new sister feature: When to visit:
Notice how there are links to the source information for each tip. Just tap the >-icon to the right of each tip. We are not used to see AI being up front of where this info is sources from.
And there are tiny profilepic-icons to credit the relevant LGs.
All the tips are all marked New.
I tested this only in English. Kindly test if they are available in your language also. Share your findings below.
And I gave not tested if this is available only on tourist related places.
Cheers
