Hi fellow Local Guides, Connect Moderators and Google Moderators ![]()
Namaste from India ![]()
I’d like to share an idea that I believe could make a meaningful difference in how we contribute to Google Maps:
Idea: AI-Driven Feedback for Contribution Quality
What if Local Guides had access to an AI-powered tool that offered private, personalized, and constructive feedback on our reviews, photos, and edits? Not to judge—but to guide, encourage, and help us improve.
How It Could Work:
-
Personalized Dashboard: - A new “Contribution Health” section could be added to our Local Guides profile, offering a visual summary of contribution quality over time. -
Actionable AI Feedback: - Using AI, the system could analyze your recent contributions and suggest improvements like:
- “Your last 5 photos were mostly menu images. Try adding shots of the restaurant’s interior or ambiance for a fuller view.”
- “Your review for [Business Name] is a bit short. You could add details about the staff or atmosphere to make it more helpful.”
- “Great job adding opening hours for the new café! Consider uploading a clear photo of the storefront to help others spot it easily.”
Positive Reinforcement: - High-quality contributions would be highlighted too, with short notes on why they’re useful—fostering motivation through encouragement.
Why It Matters:
This tool would empower Local Guides to grow and improve through gentle, private coaching—raising the overall quality of contributions without public criticism. It’s educational, personalized, and scalable—and aligns perfectly with Google’s strength in AI and commitment to community engagement.
The Bigger Picture:
Introducing features like this not only uplifts individual contributors— it also strengthens the entire Local Guides ecosystem with quality contribution on Google Maps. I believe ideas like these can support the future evolution of the program and help maintain the high standards that make Google Maps so useful for millions around the world.
Thanks for reading, and I’d love to hear what you all think! ![]()
Let’s keep building and innovating together.
