New Google Camera Features

Google Camera Version 9.8.102.748116395.16
I’ve just noticed some new features in the Google Camera App.
Please note: these features may not be available unless you have paid storage for Google photos. I will clarify once I find out.
Actually two are new and one allows you to go back to a previous setting for accessing the manual exposure and white balance sliders.
Tapping on the settings icon in the lower left corner

takes you to basic settings. To the right is a pro tab. After tapping the pro tab, tap more settings. Scroll down to the manual settings section and turn on “Quick Access controls”

What this does.
With setting turned on if you tap your screen twice, the manual exposure and white balance sliders will appear (see screenshot).

Currently to access these settings you have to tap the settings icon in the lower right corner (see screenshot).

In older versions of Google camera these sliders were visible by default.
I do a lot of manual exposure adjustments, so for me this is very helpful.
If you don’t use manual settings very often it won’t make much of a difference to you; but I highly recommend that you try them out.
The other two changes are when you are editing photos in Google Photos.
Under the adjustment tab (it’s between Tools and Filters) there are two new buttons (see screenshot).

Even though I have Ultra HDR turned off it now gives a slider to adjust this settings. The second button says “Tone”. I am still exploring what this button does, but it seems to adjust the middle range of the images exposure. If anyone else can explain this better please jump in.

Wow, this is incredibly informative — thank you for breaking it down so clearly! @Rednewt74
I hadn’t even noticed the “Quick Access Controls” option in the Pro tab, and being able to bring back the manual exposure and white balance sliders with a double-tap is a game changer for those of us who like finer control while shooting.

Again, great post—bookmarked for future reference!

It’s a cool feature, but it’s not new  I’ve had it on my Pixel 9 Pro for a while now — if I remember correctly, since the December Pixel Feature Drop.

Often the latest pixel phone have features before any of the older ones. You’re lucky to have had it for a while, but for the rest of us it may be a new feature.

I know this and I know I’m lucky, but only until they release a new Pixel. Then I’ll be waiting in queue for new features with others, or maybe - knowing Google’s approach I probably won’t get all the new features anyway.

Thank you dear friend @Rednewt74 for taking the time and sharing the helpful tips. I will try to use these tips and share my experience.
