​Google Maps just dropped an exciting new customization for turn-by-turn navigation. You can now swap out the standard navigation arrow for a custom “papaya orange” McLaren F1 Racing avatar!

Yes available for a limited time @NareshDarji. Google is now an “Official Partner of the McLaren Formula 1 Team and the McLaren MX Extreme E Team” with the Android and Chrome logos making an appearance on F1 race cars. To change your Google Maps avatar to the McLaren F1 car, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Maps app on your mobile device.
  2. Tap on your profile picture or initials in the top right corner of the search bar.
  3. Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
  4. Scroll down and tap on Your vehicles.
  5. Select Driving avatar and choose the McLaren Formula 1 car from the available options.
  6. The icon will update instantly, reflecting your vehicle position with the custom F1 graphics across both your phone and connected dashboard displays.
    This feature is available until November 23, 2026, and is a special promotional release tied to the Grand Prix season. It is accessible on both Android and iOS platforms, and the avatar can be used on mobile devices as well as in-dash vehicle screens via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Changing the navigation arrow to the McLaren MCL40 is such a fun way to spice up daily commutes.

Yes, I too came to know about this from Google Maps’ official Instagram Page few days ago and I immediately switched my avatar. It’s really cool.

Yes, I changed to that a couple of days ago. Weirdly enough, it does not improve the car performance, as one might have expected, which is a bit of a bummer :rofl:
