Nehru Gate (Nagar Darwaja) - Morbi.

Morbi is the ceramic city, also known as Paris of Saurashtra,” situated in the Gujarat state of India. The town Morbi is provided not only with great natural beauty, but it is also popular for its vibrant, colorful history and rich cultural heritage. It was a Princely State managed by the Jadeja family of Rajputs until Indian freedom in 1947.

This time I want to talk to you about to our city once heritage place of Nehru Gate.

Previously this gate was known as the ‘Nagar Darwaza’ in which ‘Nagar’ means city and the ‘Darwaza’ means ‘entryway.

Nehru Gate is famous gate in Morbi Gujarat. In 1925 it was inaugurated by Sir Lloyd, British Governor of Bombay, and was named Lloyd Gate After freedom, it was renamed Nehru Gate’ after India’s first Prime Minister.

Morbi Nehru Gate is oldest gate. In the past it was the central gate of the Morbi kingdorm so it is also famous as ‘Nagar Darwaza’ or the Gateway to the town.

The Nehru Gate is made out of stone using elements of Rajput architecture with central clock tower.
