Need Support to Become a Google Maps Reporter for Bangladesh

Hello Local Guides & Google Team,

I am Shamsur Rahman from Saidpur, Nilphamari, Bangladesh.

I am a Level 6 Local Guide.

I work for a Bangladesh National Newspaper.

I am also a Professional Driver.

My dream:

To map all the missing places in Bangladesh on Google Maps.

My challenge:

My phone camera is very poor.

Photos are blurry.

My request:

If anyone can support me with a good camera or smartphone,

I promise to use it 100%

to make Google Maps in Bangladesh more complete.

As a driver, I can travel to any city, village, or highway

to capture locations.

If you want more visibility, you will have to improve the quality of your photos.
While the camera certainly plays a role, if you cannot afford another camera right now, you can improve your normal photos by editing them in Google Photos.
And secondly, make sure the photos are not blurry, do not upload duplicate photos—meaning photos of the exact same kind or taken from the same angle with only slight differences—and most importantly, do not upload selfies or group photos of people. Following this, you will definitely be able to get good visibility on Google Maps.

And if you need an immediate answer to something on Connect, always put an @ symbol before the username to mention them. That way, the user will receive a notification, and you will get a quick response.

A few more tips

Avoid uploading duplicate photos.
Avoid uploading photos with recognizable faces.
Make wide, not tall photos for Google Maps.
Avoid lots of sky and road in your photos.

To prove that editing in Google Photos is your friend, I edited a copy of your most viewed photo:

My name is Shamsur Rahman. I am a Level 6 Local Guide from Rajshahi, Bangladesh.

By profession, I am a journalist working for a national newspaper.

Alongside that, I am also a professional driver.

Because of my job as a driver, Allah has given me the opportunity to travel to every corner of Bangladesh.

And because of my passion for journalism, I love to document and share truth with people.

Slowly, Google Maps became my other passion.

It has become like an addiction to me.

I use my travel time to find missing mosques, madrasas, and important places that are not on Google Maps yet.

My goal is simple: So that every person can find a place to pray, learn, and get help easily.

But I have one big problem.

I do not have a good camera.

The photos I take with my current phone are blurry and low quality.

Because of this, many of my contributions are not approved, or people cannot see the beauty of these places clearly.

As a journalist, I know the value of a clear picture.

As a Local Guide, I want to give Google the best quality photos from all over Bangladesh.
