Navy Pier is more of a tourist stop and not as traversed by locals, so it has something for everyone irrespective of the weather be it sunny, cloudy, windy, or whatever.
Navy Pier is the ultimate Chicago experience for this is the place where you go to Chicago for dining, shopping, and more. I decided to take a lakeside walk and loved the vibes around this place. I experienced that this is a place where fun lives large, whether you’re a visitor or local and with friends or alone like I was.
Sitting at the water’s edge was quite calming as well and just to view Chicago’s skyline was the icing on the cake. I noted they do have various boat rides and I can’t comment on them as I never took those. It was so relaxing to just go there and watch the boats go by that I decided to just walk to the end of the pier and then turned around to find an endless skyline of lit-up buildings as far as the eye can see. Mesmerizingly beautiful.
The Navy Pier is one of the most memorable spots to walk and explore and with waterfront all around, a wonderful place for pictures and scenery. I must admit that the trip to Chicago would be short of complete contentment for me without walking these paths.
Inside of the navy pier is also amazing with shops from clothing to spicy Mexican food and most were available at a reasonable price to satisfy my taste buds. The outside fountain, lights, evening music everything is superb there. There is a botanical garden and also a museum with a full-size original skeleton of a T-Rex that caught my attention. Above all the entry to both places was free.
When I went there was a free trolley bus that provided convenient transportation from The Magnificent Mile to Navy Pier. I don’t know if this is a year-round option but was extremely convenient while I was in Chicago during the chill of December.
Have you been to a place that had attractions both inside and outside? I’d be interested in knowing your experiences.
Until then… Happy Guiding ![]()
