Navigating the VIP Star Track: Video charting

Those who attended the December T100 meetupwill recall that @AdamGT mentioned a number of System features that would be released in 2024, and among these, was the Star Track for video. This was released in Beta earlier today and I was determined to try it out. Here is a brief summary of my experience and to say that I’m excited would be an understatement

Exploring the newly introduced VIP Star Track section within the Top 100 Local Guides Leaderboards system for Videos Star Tracking has been a compelling journey. This feature offers an insightful means to monitor the performance of selected videos, allowing users to track up to 10 videos of their choice.

The functionality enables a nuanced comparative analysis, the top 10 videos, or a customized selection, leveraging a comprehensive dataset for informed decision-making.

The accompanying online help documentation thoroughly explains this new feature’s capabilities. Initiating the process involves the simple addition of up to 10 videos, facilitating a seamless comparison of their performance metrics since their respective publication dates. What sets this feature apart is its ability to project expected performance trends, a feature prominently displayed in the ensuing graphical representations.

The Top 10 Star Video Views:-

Presents a visual comparison of video views, displayed graphically for a quick and comprehensive overview. Each bar on the graph corresponds to a specific video, with precise numerical values accessible by hovering over the bars, offering granular insights into performance differentials.

The Star Videos Average Daily Views:-

Segment affords a comparative analysis based on the average daily views per video. This comparative display allows users to discern patterns and trends among the selected videos, aiding in strategic decision-making.

The Star Video Views Forecast:-

The standout feature, and arguably the most captivating and Leveraging the average daily views per video as a predictive metric, this section offers a forward-looking projection of video performance. It serves as a potent indicator, guiding expectations and strategy formulation based on anticipated future performance.

In essence, the VIP Star Track Section for Video Star Tracking introduces a sophisticated means to assess and predict video performance, empowering users with actionable insights for strategic content decisions.

In summary, today I set you to test run the new Star Track feature for Videos Star Tracking in the Top 100 Local Guides Leaderboards system. It was released earlier today in Beta. It’s powerful and amazingly simple to use. There’s a big push for video content on Maps and a lot of interest and discussion among Local Guides within this community on video. The VIP Star Track feature for Video Star Tracking is a powerful tool to have in this regard.

What? You are kidding me @Mo_TravelleerX ! The video star tracking feature was released in beta only some 4 hours ago, in fact, first mentioned in my comment in reply to @tony_b here. You certainly moved fast on this one Mo and I’m really pleased to hear that your experience was a positive one.

Since we’re poking with a Beta here, @AdamGT , it would be nice to include some of the same details from the ‘Creating Your Star Video’ section of the data entry page. This way, things like video length, audio on/off, and the ever-argued portrait/landscape details can possibly give insight into the reasons for the progress of the video.

I’m also curious about the way it was posted – to the POI directly or through the Explore tab. Since we’ve been given Captions as a points category, it’d be interesting to see if Explore is a better Star Maker long-term than attaching a video to a review or just posting to the POI as a stand-alone entry.

I went in and added 4 videos. Easy to do. I added my star video of course, but I also left it in the photo tracker, so I can get a direct comparison of my star video performance to my photos performance.

I have been updating my spreadsheet monthly and will do the video tracker at the same time.

Yes, this feature will probably replace my spreadsheet.

By all means try it now on any device @Annaelisa . I’ve tested it on Windows, Android and iPhone and works very well but keep in mind that T100 System power tools like this are best used on large screen devices.

@Mo_TravelleerX was certainly amazingly fast out of the barrier with this one and and has done a great job. After loading up his data, he has given us all a nice clean and simple overview of the video tracker. During the recent Top 100 Leaderboards meetup I did mention that it would be released in 2024 but I then thought, it’s Christmas and I just knew from the general focus of discussion on video here on Connect, that you nerds with love to play with it while in Beta.

I love seeing everyone’s colorful charts and when I do I see how simple it makes this part of monitoring and comparing one video to the next. Someone should add a screen recording showing how simple it is to update a given video’s stats as well as customizing the charts to enable closer comparison of any of the videos.

Regarding filing away the spreadsheets, as I know many like @tony_b use (see his comment here), keep in mind that for the reasons mentioned during the meetup, I’ve had to restrict the analysis to 10 stars. My hope is that we can increase this.

Very easy to input data - the thing that took me the longest was determining the exact date of the videos - lol.

Very cool! Nice way to track, and I like the bar charts to see the relative performances at a glance.

Perhaps I’m misunderstanding your suggestion as I’m not sure if the video tracking is the right place to add the additional information that you mention. I do recall that there was a lengthy discussion of what data should be collected when I called for suggestions on this in the inaugural star videos leaderboard post, posted in September, 2023. Have a read through the discussion in the post and do let me know if this is or is not what you are referring to here.
