Hello world and fellow Local Guides,
It’s now about 3 years; I am actively participating in bird-watching events every Sunday and other days of the week in Bangalore and nearby areas. In this post, I will share some of the beautiful places we usually visit, which might be useful for the readers here.
It is more like a “nature walk”, not specifically a bird-watch.
- Avalahalli State Forest (North Bangalore)
It is located in north Bangalore but not very well connected with public transport - It is best when you have your own vehicle; there is no parking available, but there is enough space outside, which is also safe. The entry ticket is Rs 10 (Cash only).
- Jakkur Lake (North Bangalore)
Located in North Bangalore, again not very well connected with public transport, Jakkur Lake is big and has a walkway all around it. One can easily spend 1-2 hours here walking, exercising, and jogging. It is a good place to walk and take photographs of nature, insects, and birds. Entry is free of cost. Here are a few clicks:
- Lalbagh Botanical Garden (Central Bangalore)
Located in the central part of Bangalore, it is well-connected by public transport, such as BMTC and Namma metro. This place usually gets crowded because of its location, and many daily morning walkers come here for jogging and exercise. No entry ticket if entering before 7:30 or 8 AM.
- Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore
This is India’s top university, located in the middle-northern region of Bangalore. As this is a government institution, not all are allowed inside, but this place is considered one of the greenest places in Bangalore.
These walks happen early, from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM.
You can check the website https://bngbirds.com/ for more details because there are more locations, Saul Kere, Bannergatta etc., which I have not visited yet because of not a proper public transport connectivity.
In this post, I clicked all the photographs.
Happy Travelling, Happy Local Guiding.
