National Martyrs' Memorial of Bangladesh

The National Martyrs’ Memorial (জাতীয় স্মৃতিসৌধ) of Bangladesh, located in Savar upazilla of Dhaka, is a solemn monument commemorating the sacrifices of those who fought and died during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. This war led to the country’s independence from Pakistan.

History: The memorial was designed by architect Syed Mainul Hossain and was inaugurated on December 16, 1982, marking Victory Day. The site also includes a mass grave where the remains of many martyrs are interred.

How to Visit: The memorial is open to the public and serves as a place of remembrance. To visit, you can take a local bus or taxi from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, as it’s approximately 35 kilometers away.

Remember to dress modestly and respectfully when visiting this sacred site, and be mindful of the significance it holds for the people of Bangladesh.
