It is nasi madura (corn rice). and it is maduranese menu. But surabaya people familiar to called it “nasi jagung” (corn rice)
Madura is an island, a part of surabaya city. I’m maduranese-arabian. we have arabian generation from grand grand parents before. I have also javanese blood because my mom married javanese (my dad) anyway…
This food is yummy and healthy. It is my fav food. It is containts fiber and vegetariant like an egg plants, long green bean, sprouts with coconut sprinkles topping
(we called it urap-urap) and sometime another vegetables.
It is served generally with salted fish and fried corn. But there is also some another variant like tempe or tahu goreng (fried soya or tofu), fried chicken, and sate usus (chicken barbeque flavour) like what i have in this picture. Some cafe and restaurant do not have this food at the menu. Yea i can say it is a street food. We can get it only in some area. I bought it from the street seller that sometime come over my home hehehehhe… Was lucky after long time i can eat it. I never ever visit madura since i was child. Ok.
I enjoyed this food by using hand. It is how maduranese did it too.
