Welcome to Connect.
The last time there was an open invitation to apply for participation in a Connect Live event was i 2019. And after the application deadline the event got cancelled due to Covid. Livecevents in 2024 and 2025 were by invitation only. I have encouraged the Local Guides Team repeatedly to organize the Live events with an open application process mainly because this created a huge degree of excitement among our community.
I’m not sure if there will be live events in 2026 (fingers crossed there will be) and if there will be an application process or not. But keep an eye under Featured Topics on the front of Connect.
Sofar the way to get an invitation is to continuously make quality and helpful contributions on both Maps and Connect.

Wow, this is so exciting!
I really can’t wait for the possibility of a Connect Live event in 2026.
The idea of joining such an inspiring community gathering gives me so much motivation to keep contributing with quality and helpful posts on Maps and Connect. Fingers crossed for the open application process—I’ll be more than ready to apply if it happens!

Attending an official Google Event for the Local Guides is indeed an exciting experience. I was invited on 2017, 2018 and 2019, and all of them are deeply carved on my memories.
The selection is hard, focused mostly on the quality of our contributions in Google Maps and of course here in Connect, so my tip for you is, first of all, to build a perfect profile in your contributions in Google Maps.
What is important is not to have a lot of points (I’ve meet many L5 at the events) but to have great quality. This is in fact the point where you will have to work more and more, starting by removing the several violations that we can see in your account.
You may not be aware of this, but many of your contributions are against the policies.
The first key is originality. Goggle Maps requires to post only contents created by us. Screenshots, like in this review, are a big no.
Same for photos clearly taken by others, like this one.
There are more tips than you can find here in Connect to provide great contributions, increasing the possibility to be invited.
