My Visit To Dubai Internet City

I had the opportunity of visiting Dubai last week for a work trip. Top on my list of places to visit was the Dubai Internet City. I had already looked up the place on Google Map, so when I booked my hotel I checked to see the directions and estimated distance and time to get there. It was a Wednesday evening after my training session for the day, I headed towards the Internet City from my hotel in Port Saeed

Though I arrived after closing hours, I had the opportunity to have a feel of the environment and see the various Tech company offices located in the area. The buildings are beautifully set out with natural scenes including flowers, outdoor seat-outs and a large water fountain at the middle, with mini walk-ways across. Also I observed the buildings have wheelchair accessibility features.

Most of the world top Tech companies have their offices located right there - Microsoft, Google, IBM, Oracle, MasterCard, Aptech, Huawei,Canon, TechAccess, Vodafone, as well as other local startup tech companies.

My first lookout was for Google office, I look round to see the Google logo on one of the buildings but did not see, I asked some persons around and I was told is on 3rd floor of building number 4 (with the code @4). I was able to locate the office but unfortunately the security on duty did not allow me take pictures in there even after I explained I am a Google Local Guide on a visit to the Internet City.

Anyways I continued my tour of the environment, the more I move round the more I cherished what I saw - the fact that the top world Tech companies are in one location, like a Tech/Innovation mall

My next stop was the restaurant at the 1st floor of one of the buildings where I grabbed a bottle of Coca-cola and water because the temperature was quite hot even though it was evening.

I must say I enjoyed my short visit to the Dubai Internet City. It was a nice experience and I hope to come again soon.

Hi @Ossytony .,

Thanks for sharing your trip adventures from Dubai Internet City. I still haven’t been there, but hopefully one day I may visit it. Do you think summer is the best time to go there or it’s really too hot?

Hi @KatyaL , I think summer is still a good time to visit, though the temperature is hot but I guess it’s bearable especially morning hours and very late in the evenings.

Looks likeDubai Internet City is a very modern city @Ossytony but then that’s what one would expect in Dubai.

Thanks for the additional information @Ossytony ! I don’t like too hot weather and will probably go there in the spring. I prefer to have a walk during the day and to enjoy more time looking around  It’s very beautiful and modern!

I’m not too sure about “bearable” @KatyaL . Too Hot and too cold are very subjective terms. I recall I flew into Dubai one summer and as we approached landing, the pilot announced over the radio that the land temperature was 48 degrees Celsius. Only problem was, this was 7:30 in the morning :frowning:

Hey @AdamGT ,

For me too hot is above 35 degrees! I really can’t stand the heat. Maybe for others is bearable

Ok @KatyaL for sure spring would be great. Don’t mind that I could be fine with the summer hot weather, I forgot to mention I grew up in the African tropical environment

@AdamGT 48 Degrees Celsius, 7:30am? That’s huge! Well throughout my last visit I guess the temperature didn’t exceed 35 which is still quite hot. Don’t mind I could use the word “tolerable”, I guess I’m somewhat used to hot weather, grew up in the African tropical weather which has over 5 months of hot weather in a year with average temperatures of about 30 to 35 degrees Celsius.

Hello Personally I suggest to visit Dubai between November and April … it will be the optimal weather that fit everyone requirements … July and August will be highest temperature …

@Ossytony amazing post, thank you for sharing @KatyaL never ever dream summer in UAE from June to October, high peak is July & August, you can even bear the soaring temperature, but the worst thing is Humidity with hot summer, you will fee as if you are in Steam Room all the way you walk. As @AdamGT said morning and evening will be more extreme in humidity. But to my concern nature always plays an important role, the more the humid the more the hot dates fruit tree get more benefits from this, because dates are grown in hot climate, especially this humid and hot makes dates to ripe faster and healthier, like apples & tulips in cold area. so try to enjoy everything, i work in Abu Dhabi for 20 years i am exposed to hot and humid just 5 to 10 mins per day, because, malls, bus, taxis, office, lifts, elevators etc. etc. and all the skyscrap buildings are fully maintained with centralized AC.

The best time to visit UAE is from November to April
