My trip to China

I recently returned from an incredible two week trip to China with some amazing memories. The first time I traveled to China was back in March 2019. I was completely surprised when I couldn’t use any social media on my mobile. The biggest shock though was not being able to use our beloved Google Maps app. I had no access to it and felt completely lost in a country I had never been to before and couldn’t even understand the language.

The first thing I do when I arrive in a new place is to look up exactly where I am and see what’s around me. I will also create lists of places I have visited so I know where I have been. These lists, and my favourite Timeline feature, help me look back and add a review and photos to each place; or share the list with others.

I couldn’t do any of that in 2019, however this time I was ready and downloaded a vpn which made my phone look like it was still in Australia. This gave me full access to all of my social media as well as Google and Google Maps. Hooray! This time around I was able to create a list of every place I visited, and I knew exactly where I was at all times. I was so happy.

Here is my [Google Maps China List](China · Penny https://maps.app.goo.gl/HBqqQBHAYCr7aChL9?g_st=i) if anyone is interested in seeing some of the amazing places I visited.

Hi @PennyChristie , nice to hear that you had a great time in China.
What a coincidence, I also visited China in 2019, but it was on November. That’s why, I saw an amazing autumn view in The Great Wall that time.

Which The Great Wall section that you visited with that beautiful winter view? Was it Mutianyu, Badaling, or the other?

And lastly, thank you for sharing your list.
I’m happy to hear that you could use your VPN well.
