Hello everyone, at this moment, we are living in a difficult moment, in my personal opinion, I miss so much my beloved University (the National Autonomous University of Mexico or in Spanish, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico UNAM) and with this brief introduction, I would like to say more details about my university because it is just a big part of my heart.
The UNAM is a public university in Mexico City and has one of the biggest campuses in the world, in fact, UNAM`s main campus know University City (Ciudad Universitaria) is a UNESCO world heritage and also it occupies in a prominent rank in world rankings.
In the picture, we can see the central library of the main campus in University City, the building is covered with the colossal and picturesque mural call “Historical Representation of Culture”, created by the Mexican artist Juan O`Gorman his unique masterpiece has become the most iconic building from the UNAM and from Mexican culture in my personal opinion I see the mural how the representation of the progress of the Mexican population with more craving of knowledge to improve the country and their life of the population with education, a curious data of the building is every part of that mural was made with tiles from all over the country resembling the unity of the country in one space, furthermore, each of the four walls represented fundamental historical facets of the Mexican culture: the pre-Hispanic era, the most ancient facet; the Spanish colonial era, and the modern age as a result of the two previous periods.
In addition, every Mexican recognizes the UNAM how a part of the construction of the country’s identity in my experience I love every corner of the university their hallways, classroom, labs, and so on; The university tells the history of all students but especially tells my own history.
