When one thinks about the River Rafting in India, the place coming in mind immediately is Uttarakhand. No doubt Uttarakhand is best. But we can find the equivalent place in Maharashtra. And that is Kolad. It is a village located in Raigad district of Maharashtra state in India. It is approximately 115 km from Mumbai. Kolad is very famous for the White Water River rafting in Kundalika River. Very large amount of water is discharged from the local dam by which we get good opportunity for rafting. The water here is white in colour.
We had water rafting sports activity in August 2018. For water rafting we must go in Monsoon season for best and thrilling experience i.e. from June to September. We hired a Tempo Traveller from Mumbai. We have hired a 15 seater Tempo Traveller Bus from Mumbai to Kolad. I live in Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali and I was the first to board the bus at 03:00 am. Eventually by picking up all my friends we left Mumbai around 04:30 am. We took a 30 mins break near Nagothane for refreshments at one restaurant. After that, it took another 1 hr to reach the Rafting boarding point. We had already booked the slot for rafting online. It was around approx INR 800/- per person that time. Package involves River Rafting, Photos + Video Shooting of the rafting, River Crossing Zip Lining, Kayaking and Lunch. Our booking was with Go Adventure Kolad Camp (Wilder West Adventures).
The weather was very awesome and raining was there. Everywhere is full of Greenery. There were lots of tourists came for Rafting experience. Please yourself with pictures of greenery and stunning landscapes of Kolad. Located within the proximity of Mumbai and Pune, leave all your worries aside and head straight to Kolad for a fun-filled camping experience.

It was a great and thrilling experience of Rafting and Zip lining. The water was very chilled and the current of the water was really very heavy which must be grade 2 to grade 4. But there was a person with kayak who gave support to whom who lost the rope while river crossing. River crossing was done after zip lining.
One biggest fun I would like to mention that, total rafting distance was 5 KM, after around 3.5 kms of rafting the river bed is free of stones so the water flows smoothly. During that time we can jump in the water and flow with the current. As we had our life jackets so we were so much comfortable. It was a very fun and thrilling too. Your raft leader will be with you. You must not go away from your raft.
Recently, I heard that now days the Raft leader use cameras on their helmet to shoot the whole rafting. Unfortunately it was not available while our visit. But they shoot video on multiple locations and gave it to us. The video is attached for your reference. The 12 KM rafting is also available.
After performing the sports activities we had a delicious lunch at the bank of the river. And had lot of fun and created a great memories. Please watch the attached short video of our rafting.
How to Reach: By taking a flight or train to Mumbai. From Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport or Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, you may rent a private car or take a taxi to Kolad, which is situated around 115 KM away from the Mumbai.
Alternate route is you can take a state or private bus from Mumbai to Ratnagiri and get down at Kolad, which is on the way. Also, take a train to Kolad Railway Station from Mumbai to reach the city, and then visit the Kundalika River.
Thank you…
