My profile visibility setting on Google Maps doesn’t work. I want my profile public. When I set it to public on desktop, the mobile app resets it to private (“Restricted Profile” ON) and vice versa. This loop prevents me from keeping my profile public.
That sure is frustrating, @real_5b_food.
Google gives two different options on their Maps support site. Can you try to log out of your account and log back in?. If that doesn’t work, try clearing your app cache.
It’s been very frustrating and I have spent too many hours on this. I have logged out of that Gmail account across my mobile and desktop. I have cleared cache and storage on mobile. The problem continues. If I toggle one, the other flips regardless of order.
I have tried this a few dozen times :). I assume for step 1 this is setting the profile setting of restricted profile to “off”.
Can you send me a link rather than a screenshot of these steps? I would like to “Contact Support”

Sorry, I was not specific. I was asking for the link that is associated with the “Contact Support”. I am still not able to fix this. Maybe my account was suspended or flagged?
Unfortunately, @real_5b_food, Google Maps doesn’t have a support email or chat feature unless you are have a business on Google Maps. It makes it tough in times like this.
Yes, yes it does. So, as a review:
Mobile
- I have cleared cache, storage, reinstalled google maps on my phone
- I do have multiple google accounts on my phone in
- On mobile, I do the following: click on profile picture on the top right corner → scroll down and select “Settings” → scroll down and select “Personal content” → scroll all the way down to “Restricted profile”. This is a toggle in which I toggle off.
Desktop
- Go to Google Maps
- Select the 3 lines on the top left which expands the menu
- Select “Your contributions” → select settings gear next to “Edit profile” in the expanded menu → a pop up window appears “Your public profile”. This is a toggle in which I toggle on.
Desktop - accounts.google.com
- Left hand side menu select “People & sharing”
- Under the block “Contacts” section, verify all are toggled on
- In another block under “People & sharing” find “Choose what others see” and select “About me”. Verify all are set to Anyone: Name, Profile picture, & Contact info.
These are the settings and processes that I have done.
The result is: no matter what I do the toggle on mobile maps for “Restricted profile” or the toggle on desktop for “Your public profile” always contradict each other.
- I have tried doing the above in different orders to see if cache/storage or anything else was causing an issue
- I have tried toggling mobile first
- I have tried toggling desktop first
Any more suggestions would be appreciated.
I did make most if not all my reviews the same day I created my account. Is there a way to see if my account was suspended? Or if my posts were flagged for some reason?
Given my steps above, does anyone have any suggestions on next steps?
