My number of detailed reviews not increasing despite writing more than 200 characters

Hii, i have noticed one thing that my review that i write over 200 characters sometimes get counted and sometimes it is not counted. Is there any one who can tell me the reason for this. And secondly some reviews don’t even show up when i post them on a business. This is very much frustrating sometimes.

Hi @UmarFarooqAslam

I can confirm from your public profile that you have added 305 reviews and only 252 of them are public.

Google has automatic filters that hide your reviews so only you can see them. This can happen when some of your reviews violate the guidelines, including:
Prohibited and Restricted Content
Format Specific Criteria (See under Text Reviews and Captions)

Read about typical review guideline violations here.

If you are on a Desktop use this link to Count your hidden contributions. From a mobile device use this link.

If you want to identify which of your reviews are hidden please see this post.

Currently, your issue might not be your fault. Please read Known issue: Unpublished reviews and photos on Google Maps. And, make a reply to request your account also be investigated.

Hidden reviews will not count towards your badges.

Also, please be aware badges can take some time to get updated. Often more than a week.

Best of luck

Thank you for your reply. I have gone through my account and would be very happy if you further assist me in this regard. Can you investigate my account and provide more precise details. That will be very helpful thank you

@UmarFarooqAslam

It would be really helpful if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply.

Here are some tips related to your photos.

Look at your photos uploaded to Maalga. 4 photos of the red neon sign. They are redundant = very similar, so you should delete 3 of them.

You uploaded 2 photos of a cup of ice cream to Sweet Creme is also not helpful. One of the should be deleted.

One of your photos uploaded to Hard Knocks Gym are out of focus.

You uploaded the same photo of a bus to Road Master Bus Terminal Lahore twice.

To Maestro Cafe you shared a photo with recognizable faces. Ir is recommended to blur faces or avoid uploading such photos.

Lastly, I would mention that Google is recommending us not to share night photos.

I did not find problems related to your reviews.

You should request a review of your reviews in the ongoing thread about this.

All the best

@MortenCopenhagen thank you so much for guiding me through this.

@MortenCopenhagen i need a review of my reviews. Because i need to figure out the reason as i am writing detailed reviews and still they are not getting accepted.

You might never know exactly what is wrong with your reviews, @UmarFarooqAslam .

It is an automated system and Google does never reveal specific reaaons.

I think you will need to ask a senior local guide from your country.

You also need to think about if there could be a conflict of interest. In your review of a digital marketing place your review sounds like your could be representing a business and not your self as a private individual. Why would you be able to recommend a marketing company? Are you employed there or do you have family or friends working there? I’m not accusing you but trying to examplify what you should look for.

Did you read the links I shared with you about typical review violations?

And did you request a check in the other thread I suggested to you?

Cheers

@MortenCopenhagen yes I read the article that you shared. I understand what you are trying to say. I worked in that digital marketing agency and that is why I gave a review. All the reviews that I gave are legit and I even share images with them, that shows that I actually visited that place.

Regarding the thread, I don’t understand where should I ask the question related to reviews. I will be very thankful if you guide me on which thread are you talking about, as I am using this platform for the very first time.

Thank you

Hi @UmarFarooqAslam

You very clearly violated the guidelines for reviews by posting a review of your employer. It is a big no no. Delete it asap.

In my first reply to you I shared a link to where you need to request a check of your profile.

Cheers

Morten

@MortenCopenhagen this is not due to the reason that I was an employee. It is because they deserved it and I don’t find anything wrong in writing the truth.

It is like if someone buys a phone from a shop and leaves a review and google says it to delete because you have bought the phone from that shop?

I am just asking…

No, @UmarFarooqAslam .

You have not been a genuine customer of the company. You never bought their services.

Think about it this way: Would you trust a review from a former employee if he was fired? There are tons of examples where a boss asked his staff to write a positive reviews to counter negative reviews poster on Google Maps. That is certainly not okay in my opinion. And if detected he could lose his listing on Google Maps.

Please open the link I already shared with you: https://support.google.com/contributionpolicy/answer/7411351?hl=en&ref_topic=7422769

Click on Prohibited and Restricted Content and open the last open bullet called Conflict of interest.

It says:

Maps user contributed content is most valuable when it is honest and unbiased. Examples of disallowed practices include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing your own business.
  • Posting content about a current or former employment experience.
  • Posting content about a competitor to manipulate their ratings.

It could not be written much clearer.

That said, your are certainly not the only one who made this mistake.

All the best
