I am not consider myself like a super religious man, but some of friends and family ask me why do I make the Talpa de Allende´s Pilgrimage. Well, there are differents reasons why.
Every year a thousends of catholic people make this pilgrimage near by te easter days to see the Talpa de Allende´s Virgin, The name of the virgin is “La Virgen del Rosario”, consider a miraculous virgin, the majority of the people make “Mandas”, there are like favors or wishes that the people ask to the virgin and offer the pilgrimage in return.
The pilgrimage consists of walking 110 km approximately, it starts in Ameca and finish in Talpa de Allende, but some people start from closer or further places. The road is full of dirt and stones, so you wont finish the trip cleaned. Because of this you need good sneakers or boots, nobody wants blisters on the feet. Also, is important to take care about the sun, because there is not clouds in the sky and the most of the way is under the sun.
There are different sections of the road, everyone with a duration of 2 hours walkin aproximately, the duration of the all trip is of 2 o 3 days, it depends.
