I noticed that my Google Maps was missing the speaker icon, the button you can tap to have Google Maps read aloud the name of a foreign place you’re traveling to.
When I log into Google Maps with the same account using the same phone at the same location,
The speaker symbol is not displayed on iPhone 15, but can be seen on Samsung and Pixel phones.
At the same time, my husband is using an iPhone and can see the speaker symbol.
Before when I looked up a location in Japan, I saw a speaker icon and could translate the name and address into Japanese. But now I can’t see the speaker symbol on my iPhone.
Does anyone know why this glitch occurs? I looked in all the settings but couldn’t find any solution.
Attached is a screenshot of the same phone that worked before and now can’t find the speaker icon
I updated Google map but it still didn’t work, so I tried deleting it and reinstalling it, but still no solution.
In addition to traveling, I also use it in teaching. I hope that students can make good use of Google Maps and use this helpful and useful feature for traveling.
In the 3/3 lesson, this function was displayed and the voice was played, but when it was demonstrated to the students again, the voice playback symbol could not be seen, so the students had to try it themselves.
I am very troubled by this problem because I really want to recommend this useful function to more friends. So after trying many methods and still finding no solution, I had to look online for an answer.
Thanks for answering my question
Now I found that after I uninstalled and reinstalled the Google Map APP on my phone, my timeline was gone. It contained decades of records that were very important to me.
How can I restore the history of the timeline?
I’ve found the answer to my question about the lack of speaker icons on Google Maps.
My iPhone’s language setting was originally only “Traditional Chinese”. When I checked Google maps for locations in Japan and the United States, I could see the speaker icon.
I tested and added Japanese and English to the iPhone language settings, and the “speaker icon” would not be displayed for Japanese and English locations. However, the icon would appear when searching for locations in languages other than those mentioned above.
After studying for a long time, I finally solved the problem. I am very happy~
