During a trip to Kashmir with friends, I had the opportunity to go horseback riding for the first time. I had the opportunity to horse ride around the hilly areas of Kashmir’s lovely landscapes. Kashmir’s hill stations are well-known for their natural beauty and are popular tourist destinations for holidaymakers. The valleys are located at higher heights above sea level and are bordered by lush green meadows.

Activities such as trekking, horse riding and camping are popular among visitors. The hill stations also famous for the beautiful waterfalls. Horse riding in such hilly areas can be a challenging but rewarding experience. The terrain is often uneven and rocky, with steep inclines and declines, so it requires a skilled and experienced trainer always assisting the rider. It is important to have a well-trained and fit horse that is accustomed to the terrain.

We took a guide who was familiar with the area and provided the assistance in case of emergency. Horse riding in hilly areas can offer beautiful and scenic views, and the experience of being in nature can be very peaceful. However, the unpredictable nature of hilly terrain means that safety must be a top priority.

My first horse riding experience was amazing! I was a bit nervous at first, but the horse I rode, named Neelam (Meaning Sapphire in English), was very gentle and easy to work with. The instructor gave me a quick lesson on how to properly hold the reins and how to control the horse’s movements.

Once I was comfortable, we set off on a trail ride through the beautiful hilly area. I couldn’t believe how smooth and effortless the ride was. The horse’s rhythm was so soothing, and the scenery was breathtaking. I felt like I was in a different world, completely disconnected from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

As we rode, the instructor taught me more about horseback riding and the proper way to care for a horse. I learned about different riding techniques, horse behavior, and how to properly groom a horse. Overall, it was a truly magical experience. I highly recommend horse riding to anyone who is visiting the hill stations in Kashmir. Horse riding in the valleys was fun and relaxing way to experience nature.
