Hi Local Guides,
I am name is Joe from Dar es salaam, Tanzania.
I am a self-taught photographer and I love exploring with my camera everywhere I go. I always to love to show around my city to my friends, fellow photographers where to explore and what to do and don`ts. Below are my favorites spots to photograph in Dar es salaam.
is a memorial to the askari soldiers who fought in the British Carrier Corps in World War I. It is located at the junction of Samora Avenue and Maktaba Street. It was unveiled in 1927. The main feature of the monument is “The Askari”, a bronze statue of a soldier. The statue stands on a pedestal. On the narrow sides of the pedestal are plaques with a dedication in Swahili (Arabic and Latin script) and English; on the wide sides of the pedestal are 2 pictorial plaques showing fighting African soldiers and the carrier Corps. This place is accessible for all guest for 24 hours.
One of my favorite spot and restaurant in town. You can have a drink while taking pictures with your phone and a small camera. If you consider bringing the tripod or heavy camera you should give the management a heads up. Best time to shoot is evening hours after the sun is set.
If you are scared of heights please do not go. The reason I love this place because you can see Kariakoo and Msimbazi street in 180 views. One access is at the rooftop 11th floor and other is at the bar 10th floor In my experience there I never had issues accessing the rooftops.
On this are you will see the city of Dar es salaam from kigamboni. Its accessible plus busy area most of the locals see and small business is surroundings the area before entering the port to access the ferry.
Here you can view the city on 360 views. A same thumb of rule. Order a drink, coffee, meal (bit expensive) walk around with your camera take pictures. The views are speechless.
This has little perspective views and its close with Ramada Encore. The views are worth plus having a drink while watching entertainment
I hope these tips will help future visitors in my City. Are you from Dar es salaam? Does any photograph shooting point tips I would love to hear from you
Joe
