Banteay Chhmar Temple is one of the most important ancient temples in Cambodia🇰🇭.
Banteay Chhmar Temple is located in the northwestern part of the country, in Banteay Meanchey Province. Banteay Chhmar Temple is of great historical and architectural importance.
My friends and I are walked from the parking spot to the entrance gate with the beauty of status but some of them are broken.
Banteay Chhmar Temple was built in the late 12th to early 13th centuries during the reign of King Jayavarman VII. The construction was done in the Bayon style, which is similar to the Bayon Temple in Angkor Thom.
When I walked in, the first temple’s I saw is this one. And then I walked around to find the spot to capture the photos.
After that temple, I walked through the right side of the main entrance temples. There are more attractive places to me.
Banteay Chhmar Temple is famous for its carved stone walls. These carvings depict battles between the Khmer and Cham, as well as scenes of daily life during that period. Around this main temple, there are also eight other smaller temples.
I truly appreciate and love this temple. This is my first time that I visited this temple. From the guided by the children who live near the temple. The escorted me to the beautiful spot (they do it after classes).
Due to its location far from Angkor, Banteay Chhmar is not as popular with tourists as other temples. Most of the temples are in a state of disrepair and have been damaged by natural factors.
Today, Banteay Chhmar is managed by Community-Based Tourism (CBT), which offers tourists the opportunity to stay in local homes and learn about rural Khmer life. This temple has also been included by Cambodia on the Tentative List for nomination as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After visiting, I have a break in front of the temple and have a glass of sugar cane.
And the visitor could find the local food for lunch near the entrance of the temple. The foods there really delicious. You will not regret to eat there’s.
