I am trying to edit just the phone number of a local healthcare facility, as the number listed when a Google search is conducted is NOT the main contact number. The number given is actually the CRISIS INTAKE number. Please understand the serious implications this can have. The CRISIS intake line is being overwhelmed trying to field phone calls for both it and the normal office number. I have tried many times to push an edit through, including a screen shot of the phone number from the facility’s own website, but it never goes through.
All I am trying to do is help free up the line for the people who are in a medical crisis. I promise I’m not trying to spam anything. I find this to be annoying and kind of insulting. Why is this so hard?
EDIT: If you don’t believe me, hey… why not call and ask them yourself? I’m sure they’d be thrilled to back up my claim. I say this because that’s exactly how I found out.
Hi @Hooby as local guides our edit are checked and the system need to confirm if your edit is real, normally it gets approved same time or take some days, sometimes it may never be approved, depending on weather or not someone confirms your edit.
We always experiane the same thing as local guides, just be patient. You can ask other local guides who live in the same area where you live to try and do the edit, in that way it might be approved since someone will confirm this edit. This is where a need for meetups to edit places as a group become helpful, others can confirm your edits.
this is difficult for me to understand: why a local guide have to take care of a so important edit, when the business can take care of it on a very easy way?
Why is it difficult to understand? If someone is wanting to do the right thing, is it really that bad? That is such a disheartening thing to read. If I go through Wikipedia and I see a spelling error or formatting error, I will take the time to fix it. Why? Because it’s helpful. And it would be nice if we all pitched in a little bit. And that’s what I thought this whole editing thing was all about.

I am not part of that business, so why would I go and show them a link? They’re a community healthcare clinic. Look it up. It really seems to me like you’re questioning my motives and that is not appreciated at all. I immediately regret trying to just help a little bit.
I am being very serious right now and I would like a simple answer to this question-
What is the point of the “Suggest and Edit” button and editing system if things ultimately come to this? I said that I was trying to help an overstretched community clinic by flagging the number you get as a result from a search as wrong and now I am being told to go to the “business” (not for profit). So what’s the point? Is it really that hard for someone to look at the website and verify that- yes- the main number that is on their website… the same one I tried to change it to via suggest an edit… is correct?
I really hate when something so simple turns into something so complicated. And, again, I really don’t appreciate this thinly veiled assertion of possible ulterior motives.
On your post you are talking about an urgent issue that need to be fixed.
An issue that seems to be vital for the business: their crisis intake number.
Of course what we do is important. I am a Local Guide, trying, like you, to fix issues all the time. My aim is to have on Google Maps the correct information. So, when I have the possibility to show to the business how they can better control their listing, I show them Google Mybusiness, and I explain them why they should use it
The approval process of a local guide edit needs verification and confirmation. If Google cannot get the appropriate confirmation, an edit can stay on pending status for a long time. Please read Why is my edit status “Pending” or “Not Applied”? to better understand how the approval process works.
So, again, suggest to a business to register on Google Mybusiness can be helpful too, to fix an issue on Google Maps. As I said, I am using the “edit” tool almost every week, but I am also aware that sometime a different tool is more appropriate, and this is the only reason for me to reply on this way to you

Can you please share with us the Google Maps link of the local healthcare facility that contains the crisis intake number, so that we can look into it and investigate it further.
Lets face it, the whole excerise of suggest an edit is a tick box for being like wikipedia. It’s a massive fail though as edits I have passed on are soon replied to with cannot be verified. I don’t see the point in trying anymore with millions of fake duplicated businesses out there.
