My Boba Life @ NYC Part I

Taiwanese people are extremely addicted to drink bubble tea everyday and there are a great variety of brands with different features you can choose from.
I am so proud that some of the famous bubble tea brands from Taiwan opened up their location in New York. The outcome is not only for Taiwanese but also for people around the world to enjoy the drink dessert easily.

The Alley

Deerioca Creme brûlée is super delicious and creamy but with the incredibly high calories 1,500 cal, which I have never seen in any other drinks. It’s better to share with someone else.

TIGER SUGAR

When Tiger Sugar opened their first location in Flushing, there was a super long line in front of the store all the time.
Their signature bubble milk is served with unmixed brown sugar syrup like the tiger print.

Teazzi Tea Shop

One of our friends’ favorite bubble tea in Manhattan and we highly recommend to order house milk tea with bubble, 50% sugar & less ice, AKA the golden ratio for this drink.
The owner is also into trendy streetwear brands so you can enjoy his collection of KAWS figures in the store.

Boba Guys

Boba Guys originated from San Francisco and it was found by an ABT.
Their best seller is the strawberry matcha latte + boba and the gradient color in the drink is extremely photogenic for Instagram.

Truedan

Truedan is one of our favorite brown sugar bubble milk tea brands originated from Taiwan. We were so excited that they opened here in NYC.

It was decent and creamy but not as great as the one we had in Taiwan which was kind of disappointing. We will still recommend friends to try it.

Hope you like this post, which is about my favorite bubble tea stores in NYC and I will share more in part II. If you have any recommendation, no matter where the bubble tea store is, let me know!

Thanks for sharing all of these bubble tea places in NYC @Wei929 !! Always a great way to cool off, especially on a hot summer day. The Alley is over here in Vancouver as well and I’ve tried it once, the others are less familiar to me. Which one is your favourite??

@Shirley It’s great to know there is also The Alley in Vancouver! How do you like their drink?

My favorite one among these 5 stores is Teazzi due to the various options on their menu. They also serve healthier drink so you will feel less sinful :laughing:

The name bubble tea and bubble milk are quite interesting @Wei929

Is it foamed and packaged so that when we open, bubbles come out of the coffee? or do the bubbles mean something else?

@Wei929 在國外看到台灣品牌的飲料店真的會超興奮,看到價格後馬上興奮感減半XDDDD
The Alley 和 Teazzi Tea 我還沒喝過 下次去嚐嚐。

I remember trying a matcha one at The Alley and really enjoyed it @Wei929 !! Haha I don’t like it when there are too many options, so hard to pick! I often go with a traditional milk tea and usually grass jelly instead of bubbles!

@TusharSuradkar Thank you for checking my post! Bubble tea is a drink originated from Taiwan, which is shaken with ice to create “bubbles” and we also add chewy tapioca balls (“pearls”) in the drink as well. (Tapioca balls are translucent spheres produced from tapioca.)

You definitely should try bubble tea one day. It’s not only a drink but also dessert! I love it so much!

@Cheng0523 沒錯!但價錢剛好可以限制我不要喝過量,不然很痛⋯錢包跟體重都是!台灣有更多好喝的啦,在台灣時也沒喝過這兩家 :sweat_smile:

@Shirley I love matcha too especially dessert! I believe grass jelly is a better choice, much healthier and lighter than boba.

I totally agree if there are too many options it will be really difficult to make decisions :joy:

Great post! I could feel how happy you are as a Taiwanese that is faraway from your home country to see lots of bubble tea stores open in NY @Wei929

From all of them above, I’ve tried The Alley in China and Tiger Sugar in Indonesia. You could read my post about Tiger Sugar in Indonesia here Tiger Sugar Comes to Jakarta, Indonesia! .

Oh Boba Guys… I really want to try their famous Strawberry Matcha Latte Boba so badly!! I’ve been to the outlet at Union Square, San Francisco, but unfortunately the line was so long, so that we cancelled to try it. How does it taste?

Let me tag @diana-nekho as she is a fan of Teazzi. She would be happy to read your recommendation in NY :smile:

@Velvel It’s great to know Tiger Sugar opened up their stores in Indonesia and I feel so proud of bubble tea!

The Strawberry Match Latte was amazingly great and you definitely should try! The line here in NYC isn’t too bad … maybe you can come to visit me and try here :wink:

I’ve never tried the combination of strawberry and matcha before, so I’m still wondering the taste. Which taste is more dominant? Strawberry, matcha, or balance? @Wei929

But I imagine that it would be awesome!

Yeah, hopefully we could meet and enjoy bubble tea together either in US or Taiwan in the near future :hugs:

@Velvel The taste of Matcha was more dominant which matched my preference. I actually don’t like strawberry dessert so I was surprised how tasty the mix with matcha was.

Hey @Wei929 :bubble_tea::bubble_tea::bubble_tea:

So happy to meet another Bubble Tea Fan who’s also a Local Guide! :heart_eyes:

If you find yourself in London, or the UK in general, let me know and I can share my favorite boba tea brands out here :uk:

The UK offers more varieties of Boba than many places around the world… probably not NYC, but definitely it’s a HUGE trend here with a new shop opening up every week around the country. (and our country is very small) :joy:

Chat soon :bubble_tea: :heart_eyes: :star_struck: :heart:

@Wei929 I love Bobba tea too. In Australia we call them Bubble tea. I was in NY in 2019. Would have been so helpful to have had your list and recommendations then. Thanks for sharing your vast experiences with Bobba Tea!
