My Alibaug Trip : Episode 1 - Travel Experience by Mumbai to Mandwa by M2M Ferry Service.

Hello All LGs,

Around 2 years later, I went on family trip to Alibaug, Maharashtra. It is best the place to spend time with your loved once. Its basically a coastal town in Western India towards South Mumbai. There are many beautiful beaches to visit and enjoy. Many people from Mumbai, Nashik and Pune visits Alibaug frequently especially on long weekends. In this My Alibaug Trip Series I am going to share my experience one by one. So lets start episode 1.

On observance of long week end in 3rd week of February I decided to visit the Alibaug especially for my son and spend quality time with my family. I made a list of Want to go using Google Maps. Here is the list.

From my Home to Resort, the distance was 144 km which takes around 4 Hours 37 Mins. For better enjoyment and experience new service of ferry I decided to go by M2M Ferry Service. M2M means Mumbai to Mandwa which is from Ferry Dwarf, Mumbai (at Princess Dock) to Mandwa Jetty, Mandwa. This service has brought by Mandwa Port LLP in collaboration with Mumbai Maritime Board and Mumbai Port Trust. I booked a ticket of this service through online on their website.

Ticket price is Rs. 100/- for Bicycle, Rs. 200/- for Two Wheeler, Rs. 300/- per Person, Rs. 300/- per Pet, and Rs. 900/- for Four Wheeler.

M2M Ferry service which is Ro-Pax Ferry is operating between Ferry Wharf (Bhaucha Dhakka) in Mumbai and Mandwa Jetty in Raigad district, for 365 days. Ports constructed at both these locations have been designed for easy on-boarding and off-boarding of vehicles (Cars, Bikes and Bicycles). The capacity of cruise is 150 vehicles and 500 passengers. Sailing is estimated to take up to an hour (claimed distance is 19 km) excluding the loading and off-loading times of the vehicles and the boarding time and security formalities for passengers as per required government norms. Reporting time is 45 mins before departure.

During this period we all got checked in through Temperature checks of all the passengers, car security checking, ticket allotment etc. Remember the Cruise leaves on time and no delay was observed on my to and fro trip. So better to reach before time to have relax journey. My scheduled departure was 09:30 Hrs and we reached on 08:45 Hrs sharp. After check in, car is parked inside the Cruise. There were crews present to help for proper car parking. After that we went upstairs on deck and caught a seat to have better view while journey. There are no any fixed seats allotted to you but plenty of seats are available. Prime view seats got engaged instantly. This ship is partially accessible. Restrooms are not accessible. Wheelchairs will be available on request and they are working on installing elevators to make Cruise Accessible in the near future.

Following are some important information:

  1. Currently in view of Covid 19, they are allowing to carry only one Hand bag. Rest of the heavy luggage are to be kept in designated area near car parking. This is applicable who are going without car.
  2. Smoking is not allowed on board.
  3. Outside food is also not allowed. You can get food from Cafeteria.
  4. Ship is designed to withstand operating weather conditions but will be operated as per Captains directives.
  5. Ship is fully fire compliant.
  6. Ship has enough life jackets.
  7. Emergency evacuation protocol will be announced during journey. Hence we must listen to it very carefully.
  8. You can book this ship for any celebration by making advance booking.

The Cruise route is shown on the map with distance as below.

Cruise left on right time. All the passengers were enjoying the view of the sea. It was pleasant weather and morning time. Kids were enjoying a lots. The view from anywhere is marvelous. We can have stunning view as below.

Cruise is having Bar at upstairs with nice seating arrangement to have relax time. Music facility is also available at the Bar.

The Lounge area is very luxurious and it has Cafeteria too. We can get snacks, Hot/Cold beverages. Lounge area is equipped with fully Air conditioned. Lots of seating arrangement are available for family as well as couple. Kids can enjoy here too.

It is one of the best practice on the cruise is to spread awareness amongst people in view of Covid-19. The crew walked with the Poster in order to spread awareness so that passenger follows the safety norms of Covid 19. This is best thing on this cruise about safety. We must enjoy but safety is first.

Following are some of the views from upstairs of Cruise.

Washrooms was very hygienic and very clean. There are so many sanitizers available for hand sanitization.

It was awesome sailing for about 1 hour with mesmerizing views and memories. I recommend to experience this service while your stay in Mumbai.

Very nicely written post @Rohan10 Dada. The cruise is looking well equipped with all the necessary arrangements for dinner and taking all the precautions of Covid-19. Your post will help those who wish to go to Alibaug from Mumbai. Last year I was in Konkan Alibaug with college friends. We went to Divegar Beach and enjoyed a lot. We also took Ferry from Mandwa Jetty and it dropped us at India gate at just 100 rupees. We visited the Tata Institute of Fundamentals Research in Colaba. Your post refreshed my memories.

Once again a fabulous post @Rohan10 !! I never knew the ferry service is so cheap; I had always traveled with regular jettis from Mumbai and by road if going from Pune. Yaa, now next time should try this option…rather let’s plan after some peace from COVID!! :grinning: :+1:

BTW, is it compulsory to have a vehicle to board it or anyone can book?

Thanks!!
