My addition of a historical landmark on Maps is rejected

I have tried multiple times to have a historical landmark added to Google Maps. My information is from multiple sources. I have included, every government, County, City, Facebook, YouTube, local News Stations and Newspaper articles, but this historical landmark has Not been accepted, every time.

It was placed on the National list of Historical Landmarks by President Hoover.

Why won’t Google Maps accept my place creation? I thought Google Maps was supposed to be for putting historical landmarks, interesting places, unique places, new places, and tourist attractions on for others to learn about and possibly visit.

My addition would be in 4 out of 5 of the categories I just listed, so this has become very frustrating when the addition comes back NOT ACCEPTED.

People visit this place from all over, and as someone who grew up here I can assure you it is a very big tourist attraction and historical landmark.

How can I get this place added?

@R_Scherer , welcome to Connect

Adding a comment to a post that is totally unrelated to your issue instead of writing your own post will not help you to fix your issue, and most probably you will have no answers, or just a few. For this reason I am asking @DeniGu to separate your reply from this conversation.

Regarding the issue, the way you are using to submit a location will not help you to have the place approved. Adding screenshots and photos taken from the web is totally useless, and it is also forbidden by Google Maps policies. Google is capable to source the information by itself. and adding content that are violating the rules will only increase the possibility of the edit to be rejected.

Have you noticed that more than 900 of your photos are not publicly visible?

A lot of the visible ones are deeply violating the rules, because not original (taken from the web) and many times are added in more than one location. Here below a small example of a double violation

Please check the Community policy :

  • “Take photos that clearly and accurately represent a location …**”
  • “Dark, blurry, and redundant photos will be removed. Users who duplicate photos across locations, … will also be removed.”

At the moment the possibility for you to be banned [considering your way to contribute] is extremely high, so I would like to suggest you to remove all the photos that are violating the rules, including the ones that are not yours, like the one here below, just to provide an example. Here is the source of the photo. Original shot by Bob Summerfield for Idaho Fish and Game Department.

This is the first step. After that, it may be possible to start talking about how to better add a place

Good Luck

Hi @R_Scherer ,

As @ErmesT rightly mentioned, the issue you raise is different from the topic of the post where you originally posted about it. That’s why I’ve taken your comment out of the thread and it now appears as a separate post in the How-tos section of Connect.

Thank you for tagging me, Ermes!
