Museum - Koons @ Museo Jumex (Mexico City, Mexico)

I love museums, and in this occasion I visited Museo Jumex in Mexico City where there’s a temporary exposition by Jeff Koons.

It’s funny, that during the time of the exposition, there’s was an announcement that the piece ‘Rabbit’ broke the most expensive work by a living artist.

I think it’s a controversial artist in terms of art, in my opinion it’s nice to see this big sculptures imitating other textures, but nothing else. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to see an enormous puppy ballon which was majestic.

What are your thoughts? You like Koon’s works? Have you seen them live?

Here I share some photos I take during the exposition (All photos self captured with Nikon D3200 | 55-200 mm).

Hi @JahirSVG ,

That’s an interesting exhibition you went to. I wasn’t familiar with Jeff Koons works before reading you post, but I share your opinion that every visitor perceives the meaning of those exhibits differently.

When I think about contemporary art, the names Christo and Jeanne-Claude always come to mind, with their wrapped buildings and monuments. It’s a different form of modern expression, but nonetheless thought-provoking!

What kind of museums do you like visiting? Do you have a list of your favourite museums?

By the way, I really loved your photos! The colours and shapes are just amazing.

Great photos of an interesting exhibition @JahirSVG . Like you I love museums and yes I did hear that Jeff Koons’ “Rabbit” sculpture broke the most expensive work by a living artist. It was auctioned by Christie earlier this year for $131.8m! Very much out of my price range.

Hi @DeniGu , thank you for the appreciation!

Wow, I didn’t know Christo and Jeanne-Claude, thanks for sharing. As you say, really provocative.

Talking about my favorite museums, I think on top is the Metropolitan Museum, having a perfect mix. A huge and impressive collection with a beautiful building.

In Mexico City, I like MUNAL, also from art; I’ll create a post soon about this museum.

What about you, do you have favorite museums?

I’m so looking forward to your post about the MUNAL, @JahirSVG .

I haven’t been to the Metropolitan Museum, but just looking at the photos on Google Maps and reading your recommendation, I’m convinced that I should add it to my bucket list.

I like all sorts of museums–art, science, history–but I mostly prefer art and ancient history. That’s why I fell in love with the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, here you can find thousands upon thousands of artefacts to marvel at.

More locally, I quite like the National Gallery here in Sofia, Bulgaria. There are not only traditionally Bulgarian paintings and sculptures there, but also many old pieces of art from Asia and South America, which are some of my favourite.
