Museo del Niño, Carolina Puerto Rico.. Great place to visit with your kids.

Let’s start explaining the “why” of this post. There is a lot of places to visit in Puerto Rico and probably you can find on Internet a lot of places with a list of things to do. But this last week my daughter ask me to help her by babysitting my almost two year old grandson. She is a single mother and her kid nursery decide to close one week for vacation break. So, I accept to babysit my Grandson, how hard it could be? I take the week off from work, but my wife who is the Grandmother didn’t get the time off. I rise 3 kids with her help; again how hard can be?

Although in Puerto Rico there is a high percentage of people with the vaccination, government Covid regulations have a lot of places still closed.

I decide to search for places I can expense time outside the house, open areas, that seems like a good idea, to make time fly more easy and fast. But, also like to find places to be safety for both of us. With only 20 month, my grandson mostly understand me and follow basic instructions, but still learning to talk.

We are planning at the end of the month to be on vacation on the theme parks on Florida, USA. On that trip, we are going to fly and stay on a house all 4 of all. So I take it a as training challenge for that trip.

Puerto Rico have excellent and beautiful beaches… Nop… Me alone with a small kid… Safety first.

So, how about Rainforest Park? Only by reservation for Covid reason.

Ok, I decide to go to Luis Muñoz Rivera Park, it was open, free… But, the humidity and the 89° F, was too much. Beautiful Place, but not restroom available. So, we end at the shopping mall with A/C, until was time to get back home.

Next day we try again, the exterior, we visit the Historic Forth El Morro, at the old San Juan. Great place, cleaness and open. Pushing the stroller to get there was an excellent exercise. Rangers, were very friendly. But again to hot.

Finally on my last day of babysitting, we visit the Museo del Niño at Carolina. For Covid reason they only open during Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. No more than 175 person.

El Museo del Niño is a huge place. Their opening date was on 2011, and have been designed with accessible features, so any kid can participate. They have the following web address: https://www.museodelninocarolina.com

Their main attraction is a two floor building with designed entertainment areas where kids can experience, learn, and play. It have open areas and a building with a good a/c, plus good diaper change area.

First floor have the Ticket center, cost of entrance depend on the attraction you like to visit.

In addition of the main building, outside, they have a Go kart race track, a Mini Zoo, a Pedal Boat ride, a jungle boat ride, and an Airplane Exhibition that can be visit onboard.

Overall facilities are clean, and Covid protocols are on place. They have restroom on each floor, and cafeteria area. Main lobby have a souvenir store and first aid room, not that you will needed, but better to be safe and prepare.

First floor cover the following theme for learning and entertainment:

Transport theme

Volcano

Ocean Life

Model scale city

Nano Street

The second floor cover the following areas:

Music

Energy

Construction

Electricity and Magnetism

Physics

Most of the inside and outside activities would be enjoyed better by older than 2 year old toddler, but the museum meet my need and my expectations with my grandson. He try to play and reach for “games” , as he see older toddler playing around.

When planning your next trip to Puerto Rico, if you travel with kids, I really recommend plan for a day visit.
