Mumbai's Timeless Restaurant- Gulshan-e-iran

If you’re a fan of rich, flavorful, and indulgent dishes, Gulshan-e-iran is a must-visit for Mughlai cuisine lovers.

Ambiance:

The décor is cozy and traditional, with subtle nods to Mughal culture. Dim lighting and comfortable seating which creates a relaxing vibe, perfect for a laid-back meal with friends or family.

Food:

The star of the show here is undoubtedly the food. I started with the Masala papad, The Butter Chicken was rich and creamy, with tender chicken in a thick, flavorful gravy that screamed indulgence. The Biryani had layers of fragrant rice, delicate spices, and succulent pieces of meat that balanced perfectly without being too overpowering.

The Naan was fresh, fluffy, and paired beautifully with the gravies, while the Raita provided a refreshing contrast to the richness of the curries.

Service:

The staff was polite and knowledgeable about the menu, helping us choose the best dishes. They were attentive without hovering, which I always appreciate.

It is a long running restaurant, since 1958 and Mumbai’s iconic dining spot!

@ShifaAymal Since 1958. It is right to call Gulshan e Iran restaurant “timeless”. Those meals I can see in the photographs have to be delicious. Enjoy life in Mumbai.!

In Karachi, we had a lot of Iranian restaurants before, and many famous restaurants are still serving hundreds of people daily.

Here I love thier darakhshan pulao and Chalo Kebab, which are amazing. Did you tried above mentioned dishes in Gulshan e Iran restaurant @ShifaAymal ?

This one is an old-time great of South Mumbai, @ShifaAymal .

I used to live very close to the Crawford Market and have been here many times during my college days while visiting Manish Market. In the 80s & 90s, that market was a buzz for the imported electronic market ( I don’t know what the current scenario there actually is :grinning: ), and we used to have rabdi kulfi here, after the lunch, I remember. That’s pretty nostalgic indeed!!

Thanks for sharing with us.

Cheers!

Good to know that you lived nearby!! @AjitThite

Yes, manish market is also popular for sarees and women’s clothing. We visited the market to shop for a wedding recently. And had lunch at Gulshan-e-iran and rabdi kulfi is a must-try there!
