Mucen, Central Museum of Peru

Hello friends! :grinning:

I hope you are doing awesome! Today I would like to tell you about the “Mucen” Central Museum of Lima, sponsored by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru. This beautiful museum is located in the historic center of Lima, one of the most emblematic places of the capital and Peru. Admission is free for both local and foreign tourists, this is fabulous to me because it is a way of exposing, and sharing the cultural diversity of my country.

The collection of the Central Museum is a representative sample of Peruvian art of all time, from ancient times to the 21st century. In the rooms of archeology, traditional folk art, and republican painting, both continuity and artistic transformations in different eras and regions of Peru are reflected. The museum has 3 levels or areas. The first level offers a detailed description of our currency :money_with_wings: and its transformation from the time of the Spanish conquest, viceroyalty, 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. Likewise, artifacts of pre-Columbian, pre-Inca and Inca cultures are shown. In the sub-level, you will find samples of Peruvian works in gold, silver, and copper, from religious, urban clothing to decorations, and diverse artifacts. This collection is composed of ritual objects and body ornaments. These objects were used by men and women who fulfilled political-religious roles in the societies of ancient Peru. It also shows a fabulous map that describes all the pre-Inca cultures that shined in Peru, what were their great achievements and advances, and, also, at what time they flourish.

On the last floor, visitors will find a beautiful art gallery, with the works of the best Peruvian artists and painters from the time of independence until our times. These paintings show everyday life, our landscapes, the faces that reflect the diversity of my country, Peru.

Foreign tourists fall in love with the place, really highly recommended. :grinning: this is my review! : Mucen Review

Best wishes,
Marco … from Peru! :peru:

I’m sure it must be a great experience to visit to this museum.

To be honest, I only know Peru from cartoon movie Tintin and Llama from Shaun the Sheep. Hahaa

I am just attracted to the beautiful pictures . I knew there would be rich history behind. Perhaps the sculptures were from Inca era and painting from the Spanish period.Inrespective of their origin, they are great work of arts. @marcorp thanks for sharing , you are awakening my interest in art.
