Mua Cave is considered a “miniature Great Wall” of China with nearly 500 steps up the rocky cliffs to conquer. This is not an easy journey especially in the summer where the heat can reach up to 40 degrees. The stairs are quite rugged and built-in a zigzag shape. But the panorama view at the peak of the hilltop will worth your effort. The stunning beauty of Ninh Binh’s rice paddies and forested mountain can be seen in all directions. You can even see small boats rowing on the river, making that hard climb to the top well worth your time.
To get to Mua cave from Hanoi, you could drive motorbike which takes around 3 hours. You could also catch a bus to Ninh Binh then taxi to Mua Cave, or join a group tour organized by a tour company.
Entrance tickets to get into Mua Cave is 100,000 Vnd (~5$). I strongly recommend you bring a hat and plenty of water, you will be thirsty very quickly! The best time to travel is in May or June when the rice paddies field becomes a beautiful shade of yellow.
