Following an incredible first day, we marched into Google’s MP7 Event Center for day two of Connect Live 2019 on Thursday, focused on our vision of “moving forward together.”
On our second day of full programming, we shared what’s next for Google Maps and explored how Local Guides can build skills and take their contributions to the next level.

The day kicked off with a keynote speech by Dale Glasgow, VP of Product Experience, where he gave attendees a glimpse of the impact the Local Guides community has had on Google Maps. He also discussed our current focus areas on the app and previewed some of the exciting features to come. We can’t reveal all of that just yet, but keep an eye out here on Connect for more info on some innovative new updates coming soon.

Following the keynote speech, other Googlers took the stage to share more information about a variety of topics including the power of Street View and how we’re working to make our products more useful for those with disabilities. After the conclusion of our morning presentations, Local Guides were then given another opportunity to connect directly with Googlers to share their thoughts, feedback, and ideas during “Googler Office Hours.”
Our afternoon activities focused on offsite experiential breakout sessions that took place throughout the San Jose area. Sessions included “Capturing San Jose on Camera,” “Hands-on with Street View,” “Sharing Your Story through Video,” “A Taste of Japantown,” and more.
We closed day two with a space-themed party at Forager Tasting Room & Eatery, complete with an interactive space garden lounge, photo-worthy bubble tent, LED games, ball pit photo booth, a temporary tattoo bar, astronaut food, and an astronomer to lead telescope sessions. It was a fun way to celebrate our Local Guides who are truly out of this world.
