Mount Airy, Bacungan: A Rewarding Hike Close to Nature

Hiking has become one of my favorite ways to disconnect from a busy routine and reconnect with nature. Every trail offers a different experience, and every summit reminds me that the effort is always worth it.

My recent hike took me to Mount Airy in Barangay Bacungan, Puerto Princesa City. The trail is beginner-friendly to moderately challenging, with a steady ascent through forested paths and open sections that offer beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. As you gain elevation, you’ll be rewarded with refreshing mountain air and scenic overlooks that make every step worthwhile.

Mount Airy is accessible by road from Puerto Princesa City. From the city proper, head north along the National Highway toward Bacungan. The jump-off point can be reached in about 30–40 minutes by private vehicle or motorcycle, after which a short trek leads to the summit.

For a safe and enjoyable hike, wear proper hiking shoes, bring enough drinking water, use sun protection, and always carry your trash back with you. Respect the trail, the wildlife, and the local community so others can enjoy the same experience.

Whether you’re an experienced hiker or just starting out, Mount Airy is a great destination to appreciate the natural beauty of Puerto Princesa. Every hike is a reminder that the best views come after the climb.

Enjoy hiking, respect the trails, and cherish nature.
