Most famous Chole Bhature in Connaught Place, Delhi

In Delhi’s Connaught Place, behind the Scindia House building in a non-descript lane is a 63 old culinary landmark. Founded in 1962 by the late Ram Bharose, what started as a modest food stall has evolved into one of Delhi’s most celebrated places for their Chole bhature. Unlike the dark brown chole that is generally served elsewhere, the chole served here is yellow. The popularity of this place can be gauged from the fact that even they are open till 6 pm, on most days they run out of Chole by 3 pm.

Low on hygiene and high on popularity, we did not get the Koftas with Chole as claimed by many bloggers. Neither was bhature served in plates made from leaves. The bhature was served in disposable paper plate while chole was served in porcelain plate.

Hello @curatorofmemory
Thank you for sharing this with us. I will be looking for ways to get there. Let’s see if local guides from Delhi can plan a meetup or maybe I can submit one.

The rates look reasonable @curatorofmemory, and if they are using fresh ingredients, I don’t mind consuming oily food.
The culprit with oily and fried food is re-re-re-use of the same oil repeatedly.

What’s the coupon in the 4th photo? looks interesting.

I have been to Connaught Place long back, I think, in the year 1994. @curatorofmemory as you mentioned the whole place is less in hygiene. But this place attracts more ceowd due to the taste. We had rotis there and mixed vegetable juice. After that I had been to Delhi in 2012, but not to rhis place. Your post took me back to memory lane.

Thanks for this wonderful post @curatorofmemory it reminded me of some lively time spent in 2019, when we had lots of fun meetups at this place, enjoying the famous Chhole Kulche, Rajma Chawal, Jalebi-Rabdi and of course the Paranthe Wali Gali - some North Indian vegetarian delicacies that won over my Bengali non-vegetarian heart.

Miss those days @deepakjhic

@TusharSuradkar . Most keep reusing the oil. And the bhatures are really oily. They definitely use fresh stuff everyday because everything gets sold out. The token is what you get in lieu of payment and you have to hand over the token to get your stuff. No automation!
