More than I expected

Hi Local Guides, I would like to share with you my joy for this achievement: one of my reviews in six months got more than 33,000 views! :sunglasses:

I don’t have a lot of followers, so they’re really views of interested people. This for me is a huge satisfaction because it means that my review has helped thousands of people to decide if it was really worth visiting this place or in any case to organize themselves according to the indications.
However, my satisfaction with this achievement is not enough to energize me to continue writing reviews and adding photos on Maps, because some of these have been made private for no apparent good reason, so about a week ago, I submitted the form , I just checked from my husband’s profile but still have not been restored. All this is really depressing, to see that your work done for free and with so much love is destroyed perhaps by a bug. So I’m currently writing my reviews in my cell phone notebook, later I will decide whether to publish them. Do you also have a review that makes you proud of your LG “work”?

@PattyBlack

Well done achieving that many views :tada:

There are others who are also facing the same problem including myself. So far found these two :

@iSamurai

@user_not_found

All of my reviews from 2021 have not been approved. When did you notice the missing reviews?

I been told that if the post has any characters or numbers it’s hidden. Is that the case?

Thank you so much @waza28 Yes, I also often read here that many people have the same problem. My reviews made private are from the last few months, the photos I don’t know, it’s too complicated to try to understand what they are. There are no numbers or other violations in my blocked reviews. But very often I see profiles with phone numbers or other personal contacts in plain sight and yet they are active. This makes me so angry :frowning:

Hi @PattyBlack

Congrats on getting 33K views on one review. That is way beyond normal.

Keep in mind that Google do reuse our reviews in Google search also. And on other platforms. And the owners of places can chose to display reviews on their websites.

I suspect this is the case here.

Cheers

I totally agree with you on this, it’s upsetting that genuine local guides who have reached higher levels are going through this. Yet I have come across many places which have a picture of a lamp post or pictures of them sitting on their car and they have been published. Can just hope this issue gets fixed quickly.

@MortenCopenhagen yes probably…

Ciao @MortenCopenhagen sorry, I have a question for you, I have searched but I have not found a similar case here:

from some of my photos I have noticed that the location / name of the place has disappeared. They are photos published a few months ago and are part of a series of photos of that place, but only 10 of them have this problem. Do you think something happened or is it Google’s way of blocking photos? Thank you

Hi @PattyBlack

It sounds odd, but most likely they have been removed as not relevant to the place. Normally, such photos would just be hidden and not removed from the pin.

You need to share more details if you want me or others look deeper into this.

Cheers

Morten

First of all, thank you very much for your prompt reply @MortenCopenhagen . The photos in question are the ones you can see in the image

as you can see the position has been removed, but in the photos Camogli has been captured and the waters from which they were taken are there in front of Camogli. Obviously I see them published if I do a search on maps of Camogli. At present, for the problems described above, it no longer matters much to me, but this question could help other LGs not to make mistake. Sorry, I don’t know if the image looks good but I’m writing from my mobile

Thank you

Ciao

I found the images under your contributions, and they for sure belong to nowhere, @PattyBlack .

One thing they have in common is that they are taken from the water. This make the spam filter see that your photos are not exactly from Camogli.

The other photos you uploaded to Camogli are actually also violating the guidelines big time.

You are proabably not aware that uploading photos to areas like cities (here Camogli
https://maps.app.goo.gl/xePGMoxgHbTahRu18) can get you in trouble. When you visit the pin there is no add photos button or link. This is how Google Maps hints that we should not attempt to upload photos. The photos shown are selected by an algorithm from photos uploaded to places inside the city.

Let me know if you need some links to documents explaining this.

I also noticed other issues with your photos. You are uploading similar or even duplicate photos, and photos should clearly show the places. A photo with 40 percent sky and 40 percent water in the foreground are not really showing the place clearly. Please move a lot closer and avoid taking photos when the lighting is not favorable. A city in the distance. In the shade and with very low contrast are not very helpful. Also, you may want to reduce the number of photos uploaded to each pin. I aim to select the best 1 or 2 images.

Cheers

Morten

You were really kind @MortenCopenhagen I cannot really understand why errors like these are sanctioned while others far more serious are not. Many duplicate photos are caused by Google itself because it invites me to publish them even if I have already done so (but I didn’t remember doing it or I didn’t remember having published similar ones …). However, the rules must always be respected, so I will clean up the profile as you suggested even if I don’t know if I will use it again, I have no more incentives to continue doing LG. Thank you very much. Have a good afternoon :sun_with_face:

Incredibile i numeri di visualizzazioni.

Qualche volta bisogna proprio dedicare uno spazio a questi numeri …

Brava @PattyBlack :clap:
