Oh my,in my memory it is still evergreen it’s just like yesterday although some years have passed. I found myself in the presence of the majestic, memorial, breathtaking, refreshing Wli Agumatsa Waterfalls . An experience and memory to enjoy and a place to re-visit as often as possible to renew contact with nature.
Oh Wow what I saw, what I felt and the atmosphere, it’s best felt than written in a little post here on connect.
" If only you could see the the butterflies I saw flying around so happily and the green scenery, one can’t help but love the place!!! " (Extract from the Original post a quiet place )
The lockdown has just ended and like everyone else I was feeling quite exhausted and caged as I resumed my official duties. I needed something to resuscitate my being. I love nature and the idea came why not go somewhere into nature to recover, a Waterfall maybe?! That’s it, it clicked !!! Then the journey to recover the discovery started…
This place is found in Hohoe Municipality in the west of Volta Region in Ghana. It’s located about 20km from the centre of Hohoe town and about 280km from Accra the capital city where I was living and working at the time, I travelled from there. We paid a transport fare of about $50 US from Accra and another $10 to chatter a taxi direct to the waterfalls. There were no proper public transport running that route. There were motorbikes and they were.even cheaper but the taxi was safer. we also paid a token fee 15 cedis($5) for entrance at the main gate and to obtain a tour guide and that was it.
On Arriving there, Oh dear ! I can still feel the soothing effects of the sound of the rushing water from the falls.LIke a mantra chant soothing my mind and calming my nerves. The singing birds, it was peace and serenity and the butterflies, oh they just caress you all over. The greenness of the place(just as seen in the photo) goes through the eyes, straight into the mind and it rejuvenates the being.
At 80 meters high and the highest in West Africa, discovered in the 1700s, no wonder it was for ancenstral worship. In the 1800s it became open for tourist attraction as well.
Oh I just marvelled standing there in its awesome prescence. With eyes close and chest out, I took a deep breath and the freshness of the air was out of this world ! ! ! I ran around just to enjoy the moment. Oh yes ! The coolness of the water, just excatly what was needed at the time. I plan to re-visit the place again Dv. I had written an original post about this its was also faetured here on connect. Perhaps you’ll like to read the Main post for more details and photos . you might get a clearer picture and better description of the whole story
