The largest and the only artificial lake in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is “Modon Lake.” The lake is located near the industrial city, Dammam which is in the Eastern side of KSA. This is the Kingdom’s largest industrial lake, and it is made of recycled water. Produced water coming from the industries have been thoroughly treated in an environmentally friendly manner and the same recycled water is being used in the Modon lake. The Modon Lake Park has greenery as well as over 700 palm trees that are elegantly distributed over the lake in a lovely aesthetic manner. It also features 4 km of distinctively constructed sidewalks, a 10 km walkway to serve lake tourists, fountains, and a park, making the site an outlet to enjoy for the visitors.
I went to this peaceful park with my family, and it was great to see the lake bustle with people. Tourists were barbecuing, families were drinking tea and socializing, couples were walking by the lake, some people were reading books and children were riding their bikes and playing games. Overall, this site is packed with excitement and is a must-see for travelers considering a trip to the Eastern side of Saudi Arabia.
