In the past, due to the lack of refrigerators, large cities were built by the name of the refrigerator, which was built in the deep of the earth in the days of the frozen year, and after the freezing of water. They poured straw on it and held it until it was warm. Because of this deep in the ground, the ice remains for a long time.
In Iran, these types of structures are called Yakhdan. I saw one of these Yakhdans in Kerman. The name of this Yakhdan is Moayedi.

Because of the depth, it was very cold in the summer, now everybody has Yakhdan in their house. I mean a refrigerator. :))))))

No I haven’t been to Iran but a few years ago I nearly visited. Our plan was to start in Tehran but also visit Kashan and Esfahan. I was going to spend a coupe of months there.
