Bhaderwah: This town is in Doda district in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. This is located in the foothills of the Himalayas. It is a Splendid Springing Valley “A place of Serene Beauty”. Bhaderwah is known Bhadrakashi, a beautiful valley reachable easily from Katra and Jammu.
This place has a great scenic beauty and thus so it is also called as Mini Kashmir. The town is also popular for the different species of snakes. And, popularly referred to as the Land of Snakes or Nagaon Ki Bhoomi. The city is popular for trekking as it lies in the foothills of the mountain range.
I visited this place with my family during summer last year and had a pleasant tour. We stayed far from the city to enjoy the nature and its beauty in totality. We stayed in Manhas Villa in Chhani Chinta near Chenchora. The place was so beautiful.
The local people are very courteous and well behaved. They are very soft spoken. We had a limited options for food as there was no restaurant. The care taker of the Villa took care of our food by arranging groceries from nearby market. He used to cook for us in his own local style. We loved their hospitality.
On the way to JAI Valley, we found a unique flower named Foxglove flower. This has a medical significance and not found easily everywhere. In India, it is found in Bhaderwah. The chemicals extracted from this flower is used to make a medicine which is used for the treatment of heart failure and fluid build up in the body and irregular heartbeat.
We also visited two wonderful places full of scenic beauty nearby in Bhaderwah namely JAI Valley and PADRI. These two places are highly recommended to visit while you are in Bhaderwah. This is the real Kashmir. No crowd, no noise, no pollution. You are in heaven when you are here.
That’s it for Mini Kashmir today. Stay tuned!
