Memphis Tennessee - Beale Street - Home of the Blues

America’s Most Iconic Street - Tennessee’s Top Tourism Attraction - The Official Home of the Blues

This past winter before Covid-19 craziness, my wife and i went to Memphis, it rained but the rain gave me some good photography opportunities.

here on Beale Street you will find:

  • many open bars that have live performances - both singing and instrumentals

  • gift shops

  • restaurants

  • 3 blocks of tourist trap with Music Blues History as the main theme

it was just after New Years Celebration we had hardly anybody in the streets, and it just had a hard downpour of rain, thus the streets looked empty.

photography:

  • i used a Gorilla Pod tripod with my trusty Fuji XE3 - and 16 mm prime

  • did long exposure technique. set to large F stop of 13-16 , ISO 200 and shutter must have been - 4 second exposure to soak in all the colors

we had a good time and would recommending this visit.

note on college game days, this place is elbow to elbow outside - super popular !

@Bobiisha from what i understand this is the city that first created Rock and Roll… think Elvis Presley.

"Welcome to Memphis! Memphis is an authentic and vibrant destination headlined by music and full of one-of-a-kind experiences: Elvis Presley’s Graceland, Sun Studio, performing arts, alternative rock and Blues music, a metal museum, Beale Street, pandas at the Memphis Zoo, National Civil Rights Museum, Mississippi River views, mouthwatering barbecue, lively festivals and intriguing galleries and museums. These only begin the list of what’s so great about the Home of the Blues and the Birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll. "
