Would love to join you if I’m in town but it’s as fair way off and as at that time of year I’m never sure where I’ll be would you accept my penciled in RSVP @PaulPavlinovich ?

Oh, I didn’t know he was in that group or that it was active @PaulPavlinovich ? Thought you said it was just a platform for sharing jokes :sunglasses: If more than that then send me an invite

It is @AdamGT mostly, especially this year! But we do launch our meetups there and often talk about them.

@PaulPavlinovich I’ve seen your latest IG post and replied. I expect to last not more than one hour and probably less if it’s a hot day; I won’t be carrying a water bottle. But, we’ll see! It will be the first such activity for me in many years. I look forward to it and meeting you. Oh, and will be giving my new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip phone a good workout!

@janina1 I’m happy to throw a water bottle into my backpack if that is helpful to you.

Looks like I’m getting two groups of interest for this one based on enquiries - people who want something short and my usual hard core crew so I will generate two walks - the first one will be shorter and easier then the hard core people can hang around for a monster walk :).

We’ve got a Melbourne Telegram group if you’re interested, this year being what it is its mainly been a forum to talk crap and make jokes at each other’s expense but it will likely repurpose back to its usual self with 50% Local Guides activities and 50% social chatter if you’re interested.

You’ll love Australia @Dallah but just remember it’s a big island country, in fact it’s bigger than Europe!!

@PaulPavlinovich The water bottle idea sounds good. Thank you! Yes, for me a one hour walk will be more than enough as long as there are seats along the way one can rest on if needed to catch one’s breath. However, I’m not an invalid, just a bit slower these days!

Re the Telegram group, yes I’m always happy to check things out and participate if it’s interesting.

I will DM you the details @janina1 I am going to be scouting out the route tomorrow for Part One. I’m breaking the walk into two parts to allow more people to join but still satisfy the hard core group :).

@Dallah you would be welcome to join it but its probably a bit difficult to come as our borders are closed currently and @AdamGT is right continental Australia is bigger than Europe without Russia and bigger than the USA without Alaska. Most people don’t realise this!

Update: new covid rules came into effect today for Victoria. We’re still able to do this gathering as long as we conform to the covid rules. Currently this means wearing of masks outside and inside is mandatory so if you turn up on the walk with no mask or it doesn’t fit you well I will ask you to go home. I will have some spares with me in case you just forgot. Anti-maskers can go whine about civil liberties somewhere else. If you live in or have a close contact with someone from a red zone please do not come. Stay home. If you have any symptoms please do not come. If you’re isolating or in quarantine do not come.

I’m still looking forward to a physical walk and I really enjoyed scouting out on Wednesday.

We’ll have to keep an eye on the situation as restrictions change.
