Masmak Fort (Arabic: Qasr Al-Masmak قصر المصمك )

Masmak Fort is a magnificent tourist destination and a witness to significant events in the history of the establishment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Built-in the fourteenth century Hijri, the palace is characterized by the durability and height of its walls, lacking windows, shutters, or openings, except for two entrances and small openings that accommodated rifle muzzles during battles. Today, the palace stands as a dramatic symbol of the authentic history and foundation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It narrates the landmarks of that period and the history of its leaders in its display halls, following its transformation into a museum in the year 1416 Hijri (1995 CE). The term ‘Al-Masmak’ or ‘Al-Masmek’ means a thick and fortified structure, and one of its uses was as a storage facility for ammunition and weapons until it was decided to turn it into a historical landmark and later into a museum.
