I remember traveling to Europe and USA in early 80’s
And first thing you wanted in a foreign country was the paper map to have some understanding of your whereabouts.
You had to call the person you were visiting for directions and landmark One scribbled and later did not know how to get to a place
In Manhattan I remember walking west when I needed to go east
You had to stop at gas station and find out directions
Now we see layers showing different views according to our requirement
Earth is one of the finest development in mapping technology wherein your location can be determined
My sister who is a canadian citizen went on a eurpean holiday sitting in Delhi I did sight seeing of Venice via street view and checked out hotel pictures all from maps
My brother traveling to Kolkata had a problem with hotel at night I could see his location… a maps wonder
I find myself doing maps search rather than google search for many requirements
Images, phone nos, washroom, food
Business, street view can give me nostalgia , of old places visited during childhood.
I just love the earth application
And sky
And satellites
One is always marveling at how this information knowledge is on your fingertips
