Maps App: Contribute/Uncover missing information no longer available?

Hello everyone I am new to this.

A couple of weeks ago I was checking data in the section of more ways to share and currently that option no longer appears. Do you know if it’s the app’s problem or mine?

Hi @ErmesT ,

one week ago you confirmed my obversation. You say this is hopefully a bug.

I want to state this:

  • If this is a bug it should be easily fixed according to the high priority and negative impact to the local guides community (I am familiar with Software development as you know)

  • the time it takes to get new information to that issue show me that Google doesn’t care about the local guides and their free!!! Contributions to help Google to make more money

Finally I would appreciate an official Statement from the development Team, how they will handle this case

Thnx

Tassilo

Hello @ErmesT

I discovered this same issue as well amd just thought it will rectify itself. Good to know others are also experiencing the same thing.

I noticed something new on the SV app as well, the explore tab does provide area or places needing 360 photos taken but that is gone as well. Wonder is that a general issue or part of the revamping???

Regards

Well I have noticed this:

But when tapped on always gives this:

Hello all,

Check the facts is a list of items that Google wants some input on to make a final decision. Only select edits that Google is fairly confident about but which they still need a bit more information are going to appear here; there additionally can be many edits that are pending human review which are not presented as they will only be presented to Google employed reviewers.

If enough people in your area contribute to “Check the facts” then Google’s algorithms will be able to make the decision on them. If you get the “You’re all caught up” message, this is what it means; there are no outstanding edits for which Google is seeking additional local input.

There is an obvious issue going on, so saying this:

“If you get the “You’re all caught up” message, this is what it means; there are no outstanding edits for which Google is seeking additional local input.”,

is simply not true.

@Bubica1992 , I just checked for my area; there were 6 questions to answer. I completed them all, and now I get that message. That message is normal to see; I have encountered it multiple times over the years.

Be aware that Google does adjust their algorithms constantly along with them constantly obtaining more external sources to use for confirmation. If you are used to seeing more questions than you do currently, it might be that in your area the algorithms are able to complete more reviews on their own and/or they are now sending more for employee review.

Hi @Flash and @ErmesT

the App changes a little bit. Now i find check facts in the menu and as a widget.

But still no contribution to missing information :disappointed:

I noticed that Check the facts is back. Now in a new layout. It took me a while to figure out how to view the places’ pages. You need to tap the map. And you can go back to resume Checking the facts.

See video

.

Hi dears

Why I haven’t facts after update? I just edit maps.

How solving this problem ?

Does anyone have this problem?

Ciao @Aradb ,

Hi everyone,

For a while now, I have not been able to “Check the Facts”. I know where it is supposed to be/where it was, but for some reason, I can no longer locate it.

Contribute Now/More ways to share/Contribute now.

This is the feature that had the little plus symbols and it would ask you to verify things like;

Is this place located here? Does it exist?

Is this place still open/closed?

Is this the correct web address?

Is this the right phone number? Hours? Etc.

I was always able to access it on my laptop in the past, but now I can not locate it.

If anyone has any insight or ideas, please feel free to reach out I would love to get this fixed.

Best regards,

K-Lap

Hello @K-Lap

The feature “check the facts” is still there. That will appear in contribute menu. Here is a screenshot.

However, now the places will appear based on your search or location history and not in the older way. Here’s a screenshot explaining that.

In this way, the more we visit places or search, the more will be the opportunity to check the facts.

Hi @Aradb

do you believe this is the same explanation for Germany too?

Hi C-T,

Thanks for the reply. I still don’t see it.

Maybe it is different for you because you’re using your phone?

Here is what my laptop screen looks like;

Please let me know where to go from here if you are able to as I’m still lost.

Thanks,
