Hi there,
as a local guide i used the function “show missing information” in the contribution section. Since today this feature is gone? It is also not possible to look out “check facts” in the map.
Only answering yes/No questions is available.
Why?
Hi @TassiloK
I’m using the latest Public Beta version of Google Maps on my Android phone. When I select Contribute, then More ways to contribute, then scroll down a bit I see:
Check the facts
Uncover missing info
Answer questions.
So maybe you are looking in the wrong place or you should update your app.
As far as I remember all these options might not be available on Iphone/Ipad and Desktop.
My best
Morten
Hello, @TassiloK
You are right.
There are incremental changes in the UI.
Nevertheless, “Check the facts” appears on the very first page of “Contribute”.
There, first, a suggestion appears to review a place which you visited recently. Scroll down and then Chek the fact becomes visible just below that.
Additionally, if you click " More ways to contribute", you will find the “Check the facts” entry once again after you scroll the “Add photos” row horizontally.
Nevertheless, I discover two prominent changes.
Check the facts is now restricted to the places you visited or searched.
“Discover missing info” option has now become non-discoverable!
Anyway, that wasn’t adding to points. Further, one can update that through the “About” section available in most of the POI.
Thanks for pointing out the changes.
Hi @C_T
Thank you for your answer. All in all, that’s a step backwards!
When go for a walk i no longer have an overview of which places i should check. That doesn’t help google to maintain the quality of maps ???
Weired, isn’t ist?
Tassilo
Hi @TassiloK
Did you try the steps I suggested above?
I find the list of visited places under More ways to contribute too.
@C_T Nice discovery that Check the facts now has a mention of your relation to the place: “You have pending contributions”. But I don’t see that the shown places in need of confirmation are limited to places I have a relation to.
Cheers
Morten
I die, but i didn’ t have the list you described anymore. Only check facts. Thats my problem.
Hopefully this is only a step of a way of changes to support the local guides better. This step was disappointing.
Regards
Tassilo
Hi @TassiloK
I know you did not “die” ![]()
Please share what platform and version of Google Maps you are using.

Morten
Hi @Giu_DiB
can you please check this negative changes at Google. This will harm the quality of maps, because its Impossible to correct missing things anymore.
Thankyou
Tassilo
its close to “die” ![]()
I used my Pixel 4 (Android 11) with the newest Beta of maps. Also my Huawei with Android 10 and the newest beta of maps too.
Both behave the Same.
Tassilo
Sorry about being so persistent, but I’m very sure that what happened is only a change in the layout. All the previous functions have been moved “down” under “More ways to contribute” including the ones that you claim have gone missing.
I don’t know how better to communicate this to you than to share a short video demonstrating how I find Check the facts and Add missing info on my mobile. In the video, you will also see my list of places that Google wants me to review and/or add photos to because I visited them recently.
Please see the video here:

Same issue here @TassiloK
But the difference is that from Iran we see nothing to do, even answering system questions. But by another IP, we see the answers button, although pressing it has no result and system says no questions are available for you!
PS: as @MortenCopenhagen and @C_T mentioned, there is changes in UI and check the facts is limited to place around so by turning GPS on you should be able to see Check the fact option, in first page of Contribute tab. I tested and it works.
Thanks for additional info @MortenCopenhagen
I’m not sure why check the fact isn’t available by app in Iran and think it is a bug because this is not something related to restrictions and also the conditions is now much better about preparing tech updates for Iran and some companies like Github again are preparing all services for Iran, too.
Anyway I’m not sure the old interface you can see for check the facts would be replace by new one or not (I’m using Beta app, too). Anyway, we know there is still a way for checking the facts.
Hello @TassiloK ,
Can you provide the full codes of your OS versions (for both devices) and of your Maps app?
Our team will be glad to investigate once we get the above mentioned details.
Thanks in advance.
Hi @TassiloK
Also having the same issue as you. I only have answer questions option, and rest is gone. Option to check the facts is gone from desktop too. Saw this few days ago, but thought it was just me, and that it would be fixed fast.
Hi @TassiloK ,
Thanks for your answer! I took note of the relevant information and redacted the comment, to remove photos that included sensitive data.
I did that to protect your privacy, which for us is very important. ![]()
We’ll share the results of our investigation with you once they will be available.
Hello Smart Folks .
How are you doing all ?
I want to know please where are the ( uncover Missing Info ) Maps editing gone ?
And Checking Facts also ?
I know that the Maps app is being updated frequently, but in the last updated Maps app version, I can’t find where to edit places that can give me ( approved ) like what shown in the screen shot!.
I know that I can go to ( suggest an edit ) option, but it’s different from what am I asking for !.
The second screen shot, shows that ( Checking Facts ) in the last Maps app Version, but it takes me to answer questions ! .
I did navigate the whole Maps app to know what am I searching for, but still didn’t find it.
If Google removed the ( Uncover Missing Info , and Check the Facts options from the LGs program, how can we continue like what shown in screen shot down here ? ![]()
Ain’t these two Maps Contributions can get points for a LGs?
Very Respectfully
Hi @OSAMA_1
Did you try Contribute, then More ways to contribute and then scroll down quite a bit.
Other local guides reported the same issue earlier this week. I will insert a link to it here:
Cheers
Morten
Hi @Giu_DiB ,
I thought about the issue, that @MortenCopenhagen does not have problems. Could it be connected to users like me or others that mentioned the same here?
What do you think?
