Recently, we partnered with the Dubai Department of Economy & Tourism (DET) for a very special initiative called Map Your Dubai: Insider Edition.
The goal of this project was simple: to support Dubai’s amazing culinary scene and help people discover the best local places to eat and drink in the city. And nobody knows hidden gems better than Local Guides!
A huge thank you to our Local Guides!
We want to give a round of applause to all the Local Guides who contributed their local knowledge to this initiative. Your curated lists are helping millions of residents and tourists find their next favorite meal. You truly represent the best of the Local Guides community!
Get inspired! Even if you don’t live in Dubai, we encourage everyone to check out the Map Your Dubai page. Take a look at how local recommendations can bring a city’s food culture to life, and let it inspire you to keep sharing great reviews and photos in your own hometowns!
Have you ever visited Dubai, or do you have a favorite Dubai food memory? Which spots would you put on your list?
Wow!
I haven’t been to Dubai yet, but I really hope to visit someday! This is such an amazing initiative. Local Guides are truly helpful when it comes to giving great recommendations. With all these fantastic lists, I wouldn’t even know which spot to check out first!
A great and very interesting initiative @Kristen_NYC. Being a routine stopping point on long flights from Australia, I’ve been to Dubai many. many times and the love the place, the people and the food.
This is a great idea, @Kristen_NYC, especially since it could be implemented in every country. Culinary and tourist recommendations could be displayed and would be known to many tourists planning to visit that country.
I’ve been to Dubai, even though it was just a layover and a quick stroll around some of the iconic spots, and it was amazing. Dubai is a country I’ve always wanted to visit.
What a wonderful initiative, @Kristen_NYC
It’s great to see Dubai’s vibrant food culture and the Local Guides community being celebrated. Wishing this initiative great success.
Great workby the Google Local Guides team & Googler @Kristen_NYC
Here’s an idea for the next big step: a Global Indigenous Food Mapping Program.
Introduce an “Indigenous Cuisine” tag and encourage Indigenous and tribal Local Guides to document their traditional dishes and food culture. Foods like RAGI , once a tribal staple in India, are now recognized worldwide as superfoods. Imagine discovering a traditional cassava dish from the Amazon or unique recipes from India’s Northeast and Africa.
This would promote sustainable travel, preserve cultural heritage, and help the world discover hidden culinary treasures.
And finally, I’m happy to see Indian origin @Himanikapoor representing us at this event. Wishing everyone a wonderful and inspiring gathering!
Great initiative @Kristen_NYC . Haven’t been to Dubai but definitely will visit in future because Dubai has many beautiful and attractive sightseeing places to visit and huge congratulations to those local guides who contributed in this great initiative
Hi @Kristen_NYC, congrats to all the Local Guides who made it to this list! I haven’t been to Dubai yet so I don’t have any spots to add right now, but this project is a really cool idea. It definitely inspires me to keep finding and reviewing the hidden food gems in my own hometown. Would be awesome to see more initiatives like this for other cities too!
