Hi all - this topic has probably been dealt with loads before, but I’m a bit frustrated with map edits!
Here’s the story: on July 1st I submitted an edit for a national coffee chain outlet branch that had permanently closed, including photos of the front of the building from a distance. The edit was not accepted - not sure why as I have a good record as an honest and reliable Local Guide.
On July 7th I submitted an even more detailed edit for the same coffee chain outlet, with many more pictures including the notice in the window saying the store was closed, the windows with the shutters down and the premises empty. The edit was again rejected, though I am not sure what other evidence they need. The edit, had it been accepted, would have been worth 50 points, although I don’t altogether contribute to Maps to collect points, but they are the only acknowledgement we get. As it was not accepted, I won’t get those points.
My frustration, though, is that on July 13th, I checked the premises on Maps, and it is now marked as permanently closed (as it always was!) I assume that someone else has done an edit and had it accepted - which undermines my credibility as a Maps contributor (what’s the point?). And I assume that person will get the points for the edit I tried to do. That is frustrating!
I don’t know what, if anything, can be done about this sort of discrepancy - but I just wanted to air my frustration!
