Map data locked: Getting "Something went wrong" error while correcting a wrong road name

Hi Google Moderators,

Recently, a road was added in my village but it was incorrectly named as ‘Satrai Para Road’. The correct official name of this locality and road is ‘ST Colony Para Road’.

Whenever I try to suggest an edit to fix this name via the Maps app, the map segment seems locked and it constantly gives me a “Something went wrong. Please resubmit your edit” and “Unknown” error. I cannot fix it from my end.

Road Link on Maps:

Google Maps Link to the incorrect road on Maps

Proof: I am attaching the photo of the official government signboard of the ‘ST Colony Para Anganwadi Center’, which is situated on this exact road. Also, the ‘Sonaichari Old ST Colony JB School’ is already mapped on this road, proving the entire area is ST Colony.

Please fix this locked road and update the name to ‘ST Colony Para Road’ from the backend. Thank you!

Hi @DirajoyTripura

Such data issues are better dealt with in the Google Maps Help Community.

You may need to attach more/better evidence, including screenshots of your attempts and their status.

Hi Dirajoy, Morten’s point about the Help Community is the right route for this one. Just one thing to add from your post — that government signboard photo of the ST Colony Para Anganwadi Center is actually strong evidence, so do attach it there, along with screenshots of the failed edit attempts and their status like Morten mentioned. And before that, it’s worth trying the correction once through Maps itself (Send feedback on the road) with the photo attached, so there’s a proper attempt on record. Hope it gets fixed soon.
