During our family trip to Himachal Pradesh, we have visited ‘Manikaran’ Temple. ‘Manikaran’ is located in the Parvati Valley on river Parvati, in the Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh and is located 4 km ahead of Kasol and about 35 km from Kullu. It is a pilgrim destination for both Sikhs and Hindus.
Most of the tourists avoid visiting it, as it is 35 Kms detour, but the hot springs, religious tendencies, and beautiful surroundings on the way attracted us.
There are three hot springs where one can take a bath. The water in these springs contains uranium, sulphur which are said to be capable of curing tremendous diseases. The hot springs have religious and spiritual beliefs connected to it too. The water is hot enough to prepare food directly for thousands of devotees who visit to attain peace and spirituality. The water is auspicious and is boiling today as well.
It’s a must visit place, when you are in Himachal Pradesh.
Thanks for sharing your photos with us and for showing these interesting hot springs and how the water is boiling. This is definitely a hidden gem, especially keeping in mind that the water can cure many diseases.
Can you tell us more how we ca reach there? Are there other interesting place like this one that we can visit in Kullu?
Manikaran is 35 kilometers away from Kullu. There are no public transport like buses available to reach Manikaran. But one can hire a private cab.
Other attraction would be Manali hill station which is about 40 kilometers away from Kullu. Rohtang Pass, Solang Valley are some of the tourist spots at Manali. There’s also Shimla which is 210 kilometers away from Kullu, another popular tourist destination in Himachal Pradesh.
Thanks for sharing more details and there interesting places for a visit.
Do you know how approximately it costs to take a private cab for 35 km?
It would be great if you can add the Google Maps links to the places you’re sharing in general as that way the people can easily add them to their wish list for a visit.
@KatyaL As far as I know, to visit Manikaran the cab drivers ask for the round trip i.e. Kullu to Manikaran and then back to Kullu. This will cost around Rs.3 to 4 Thousand.
And thank you for your suggestion, henceforth I will take a note of adding Google Maps link in my posts.
